Petra and Rafael are actually in love with one another. Not because they’re each other’s second choices. They ACTUALLY found a way to love each other again through the years despite the issues they had. They’re changed people who genuinely want to be together.

Jane would only want Rafael because he’s the second choice. Because she feels like no one else will give her a fairy tale ending. Because she’s too impatient to wait for love to come its way again. Because she can’t accept being single. Because she wants a family for Mateo. Because she feels inclined to have a love interest. Because the show thinks she should have a new love interest. Ironic because they killed Michael.

The only thing that kept Rafael and Jane together was Mateo and Michael’s death.

It’s nothing deep compared to Petra and Rafael.

And finally and not least, They should’ve never killed Michael.
