I love you jane the virgin.  But for me, Michael was the best part of JTV and honestly brought a lightness to the show. He and Jane were goals and honestly I stopped watching when he died.  Michael was it for me. I loved their married life.  From the first few seasons, Rafael has alot to deal with and doesn’t provide the stability that michael would have provided and after the show ends, (If the story were to continue) - I don’t think Rafael and Jane would have survived.  They did michael dirty and honestly I would have preferred if they didn’t bring him back from the dead.  This is just an observation. Don’t come at me

At this point i'm honestly just watching the show out of obligation to finish it.

Look honestly I don’t really mind that Rafael and Jane were always endgame or meant to be or soulmates, whatever. He’s the father of her child, that’s fine.

What isn’t fine is how the writers went about it. It was so unnecessary to bring Michael back and use him as a stepping stool for Jane and Rafael’s relationship. There are so many other routes the writers could have taken to get Jane and Rafael together but instead, they chose to shit on Michael and his relationship with Jane. I’m seriously so over this show, that was such bad writing.

i don’t get how this opinion is so underrated, but i strongly dislike rafael. he’s selfish, impulsive, reckless and incredibly self-centered. i also strongly dislike jafael because of how toxic they are and because of the actual lack of development they have. i mean, sure, in the s4 finale jane told rafael that he’s “it for her, forever” and she did tell him that she loved him at one point in the season but come on, that’s not love???? rafael might’ve encouraged her as a writer but their relationship is solely based on sex and physical attraction. also, jane NEVER would’ve went back to rafael if michael hadn’t died. she made it absolutely clear that michael is the love of her life. i mean, she chose him and she would choose him again: they’re married ffs and the life jane wanted was with michael, not rafael, even though he’s the father of her child and even though she could’ve brought to life rafael’s sick obsession of a “perfect family”. she saw that michael deeply cared for mateo and that he would do an amazing job at being his stepfather, and, even if it wasn’t the idea of a family she used to have and as flawed as it might be, it’s her family. +++ rafael learned that michael was still alive a day or a few days before actually telling jane. he waited to tell her, he had fucking sex with her and let her have this idea of a mariage with him while he knew her husband was still alive. now, the writers might’ve only brought michael back to fulfill their jafael endgame but honestly that’d just be shitty writing. michael and jane’s love story was beautiful, and michael is the one who took care of her, who’s always been there for her. he waited to have sex with her until they were married, he respected her choices and decided to stay by her side even though she was carrying another man’s baby because michael loved (loves) jane unconditionally. michael also asked alba to help him learn his wedding vows in spanish because he respects and loves jane’s culture and family. what can you ask more? when rafael proposed to jane, it was only after a few months of dating, in public, without consulting her about her future and without consulting her family. sure, it was romantic, but incredibly reckless. frankly, rafael is a dick and jane deserves much better.
