The Weasley siblings reacting to Ron's adventures
Charlie knew from the moment his youngest brother started crawling that the kid was a living magnet for trouble.
The moment someone took their eyes off of him,he would vanish.
That meant that he, Bill and Percy had to search for him before the kid hurt himself or their mother realized he was missing and freaked out.
Charlie couldn't count how many times Ron almost fell into the lake or how many times he would find him all the way up on a tree. Funnily enough Ron wasn't keen on getting into trouble unlike the twins but he still managed to do something that cause his brothers a heart attack.
Charlie hoped that this wouldn't follow his kid brother into Hogwarts but boy was he wrong.
It started when Ron sent him an owl asking him if he could help him transfer an illegal dragon from Hogwarts without anyone noticing. He really didn't know what to think of it but he accepted anyways. It wasn't the most ridiculous request he ever received from one of his brothers.
Next time almost gave him a heart attack for real. His mother sent him an owl explaining that his brother beat professor Minerva bloody McGonagall at chess and was hurt by it. Apparently it had something to do with his baby brother's new friend Harry Potter and a stone that was supposed to be there for protection. He didn't understand what that meant but he was glad his Ronnie was safe and not seriously hurt.
Next his little sister was also involved. The poor girl was possessed in her entire first year of Hogwarts. He wanted to punch this thing that did that to her to next week but he contained himself for the shake of his sister's pride. It surprised him greatly when he learned that Ron was part of his sister's rescue. He and Bill talked about this, apparently Charlie wasn't the only one who was left in the dark, and both agreed that their brother was up to something but the couldn't understand what exactly.
Next year Sirius bloody Black, the person everyone accused of James and Lily Potter's deaths, broke out of Azkaban. Now since a collected few including the Weasleys knew that sirius wasn't responsible and was indeed innocent, Charlie knew there was nothing to worry about, that his brother was actually safe and sound. But when he went to sleep that night he just couldn't sleep, what if something happened to one of his siblings? What if something had happened to Ron? It was Ron who had that bloody rat. What if Sirius was an actual criminal? What if he killed off Ron to get to Harry? Charlie felt sick at the thought and decided to floo call Bill. As his brother reassured him that Ron was fine Charlie calmed down a bit. Though he could tell that Bill also had the same worries as him.
In fourth year he was tasked to transfer four dragons safely to England for the tournament. From what he heard from the twins Ron was acting like a git to Harry and Charlie knew of he warned Ron about the dragons Ron would come around, but he was forbidden to do so. Thankfully when he next saw his brother he seemed to have pulled his head out if his arse and was back to being friends with Harry. In the next task however Charlie wanted to punch whoever came up with this task. Apparently the participants had to save the person who they would miss the most and to his horror Ron was Harry's that person. The whole time his brother was under lake he thought his heart would jump out of his chest. Next to him was the only girl participant who had failed the task and looked ready to fall on her knees and sob. He couldn't blame her, he felt exactly the same. Thankfully Harry came back with both his brother and the girl's sister. It was then that Charlie truly started respecting Harry.
In fifth year however, no one was in immediate danger but he knew that this year wasn't easy either. That old hag had abused every single child at Hogwarts with ways that not even his grandparents experienced. He hoped this woman would rot on Azkaban honestly.He was wrong. Ron didn't come out of this year unharmed. Those bloody brains scarred his little brother's arms, the scars were starting from his neck and throat all the way down to his finger tips. That year he almost lost his father and then almost lost his brother. At this point Charlie just wanted to scream, he didn't understand why this was happening to their family. You-know-who just had to target his brother's best friend and that meant Ron and Hermione were also involved.
In sixth year Charlie wanted to just pull Ron out of Hogwarts. He didn't care, he would take him back to Romania, at least as far away from that bloody school as he could. The git was poisoned, on his birthday. Charlie could feel his hair turning grey and could tell Bill was pulling his hair off. Charlie just wanted his brother to have a normal Hogwarts life, to study for his O. W. L. S and get closer to his dream job of becoming an auror(he didn't say anything yet to his mom because he knew Ron hadn't said anything, and Charlie and Bill were the first people who faced her wrath about their jobs so he understood). It seemed that his brother was close to dying every single year and he couldn't do anything about it.
Bill was getting married. The git went and proposed to Fluer without telling any of his brother's that he did. Finally even under the heavy weight of the war something good happened. It didn't last long, the death eaters crashed it and the only thing he could do was make sure his family was alright. He knew he had to worry about a head less since Percy was still being a git but he still counted only seven red heads. Where was Ron? His first thought was that a death eater got to him so he tried to go back inside but Bill stopped him. He watched Bill's tired and worried eyes as he told him that Ron, Harry and Hermione left. He didn't know were they went but he knew they were doing something reckless again.
Next time he saw Ron it was at what was left of Hogwarts. They almost lost Fred. Charlie couldn't stop shaking, the image of Percy carrying a half unconscious Fred haunted his mind. Percy had managed to call out to Fred before the wall hit him. Fred managed to get out of the way but was still injured badly. He could see that Percy was also shaking so he went and embraced him till he calmed down. It didn't matter that they hadn't spoken in months, Percy came back when it mattered and he saved their brother. Everyone in the family had already forgiven him when he stepped into Hogwarts but now everyone was also grateful to him.
Harry was dead. He couldn't take his eyes away from the limp body in Hagrid's arms. He felt as the last hope they had, left them. Then he remembered Ron and Hermione. He turned to them and his heart broken into millions of pieces. They looked like they lost everything. Ron looked worse. He knew Ron fancied Harry but what he saw made his knees shake. His brother didn't show any emotion but the tears didn't stop falling from his eyes and he have never seen his brother so lost before. The moment he made a move towards Ron was the moment Harry fell out of Hagrid's arms. The git was alive. Harry was alive and he defeated Voldemort. It was the moment the wizarding world was officially free.
One and a half year later, were everything was almost back to normal and the nightmares of the war had almost left them all alone,Ron told them everything. He told them about the horcruxes, he told them about the day he left Harry and Hermione and how badly he wanted to go back to them the moment he left but was caught on a fight with death eaters. He told them everything and Charlie expected that it would be something awful that his brother and his friends we're doing during that time but never this.
Ron looked at his brothers. To be honest he expected a punch or yelling for how he acted during the horcrux hunting. He didn't expect this overwhelming silence. No one in this room apart from him and ginny knew what had happened back then.
Harry and Hermione decided to tell Ginny, Neville and Luna six months ago. Ron was thankful since he knew he wasn't alone facing his older brothers. Ginny was right behind him holding his hand for emotional support.
Ginny and hin were now closer than ever. They had talked about a lot of stuff that happened in Hogwarts and they both admitted they acted like Royal assholes so they apologized to each other. They also talked about Harry. Ginny knew Ron fancied him and she told him that it was fine. Ron was shocked, it was only very recently he admitted to himself that he fancied Harry but his sister seemed to know about this for months.
Ginny snorted and rolled her eyes telling him that it was indeed perfectly fine with her. She and Luna apparently had gotten a lot closer during the time Ron, Harry and Hermione were missing. She told him that she and Harry ended it completely and they were both perfectly fine. Then she laughed when he told her that it must be a Weasley curse to fall for your best friend.
Ron was glad he had her with him. He honestly felt like it was his judgement day and that his brothers were the judges. Ron flinched when Charlie finally looked up, he looked like he was about to either bang his head on a wall or Ron's. Ron wasn't sure which yet.
"So you are telling me that for six months you have been wearing a locket with voldemort's soul in it?are you bloody mental?" Charlie spat and Ron once again flinched.Bill immediately gave Charlie a look "don't start this nowCharlie"
Charlie glared at Bill and said"don't start what William? Didn't you hear a word he just said? "Bill looked pretty offended, he didn't know if it was because of the William or because Charlie accused him of not listening, probably both.
"Look Charlie, Ron, Harry and Hermione saved the wizarding world, we should be grateful they did what they did alright? He didn't ask for it" Bill's patience was obviously running thin and before Charlie could answer him Percy cut in.
"Stop it both of you. Ron didn't talk to us about the hunting because he wanted us to start fighting. " Ron shot him a grateful smile and Percy returned it
"Plus" Ginny started with a crooked grin"this earned him a place in the chocolate frog cards, our bro is famous "Ron groaned and rolled his eyes while the twins snickered.
The three older weasleys shook their heads at Ginny's statement but Bill looked at him and smiled. "We are proud of you Ronnie, no one here could pull this off and I'm a curse breaker" Ron blushed crimson "oh shut it Bill no need to flatter me" He mumbled.
He felt Ginny's hand leaving him and he almost fell over at the two heavy bodies that replaced it. "No need to be so humble Ronnikins" George started with a laugh"you are extremely famous after all"Fred continued with a huge grin.
Ron looked at Fred, glad that his brother came out of this war alive only with a scar that started from his chest and ended at his hip bone. He was about to respond when he felt a rough but warm hand on this hair. He looked up and saw Charlie looking at him with pride and admiration. Ron felt the blush returning so he looked back down.
"Seriously Ronnie, you have no idea how much you worried us all do you? " Charlie started softly and he could hear everyone hum in agreement.
"You did good Ron" Percy smiled at him and Ron was grateful that Percy was back. He missed the git.
"Now that we are done hyping our humble brother up, I believe that everyone in this room is of age" Free said"so I believe congratulations are in order, both for Ronnie being the most successful out of all of us and"George continued
"And because Billy turned into father Billy" Ginny snickered
Bill just rolled his eyes and everyone laughed.
