“I have been looking forward to this all day, god I hate the winter. Warm tea, do your magic,” Remie smiled, sipping her cup gently.

“I love winter, but nothing beats a warm cup of tea,” Dom agreed, glancing up from her own cup. “Oh, sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt your tea time.”

I heard you were trying to grow as a person? How? By fucking the guy whos in love with your cousin and not caring about her feelings at all?

“If anyone I’m involved with has feelings for my cousins, they haven’t told me. And I care about all my cousins and their feelings.”

“Love, even if no one bothered to talk to me I still wouldn’t waste my breath on you.”

“Then why are you still standing here talking to me?”

He looked up when he heard Dominique’s voice. “Really, Weasley, it’s fine,” he assured her in a softer voice while he grabbed his shirt. “Just bumped into the wrong end of an angry dog over break. It’s not as bad as it looks.”

“Wrong end of an angry dog? You’re telling me that you were dumb enough to accidentally run into a dog bite like that?” She moved forward quickly, stopping him from putting his shirt on so she could crouch down and look closer at it. “Why are you bandaging it yourself?”

“Dom, do you know exactly how anything is going to go next year? Then how can you plan to keep something like a goal for that long with something rather random?”

“Well, of course not but that doesn’t mean I can’t set goals for myself. To give myself something to strive for, it doesn’t mean I’ll stick to it but I’m trying and growing as a person, Emma.”

“Why am I still talking to you?”

“Is it because you have no one else who bothers to talk to you?”

“Oh, that annoying puff ball? Why would I know where she is, Weasley?”

“..Because she’s your little sister and you presumably care about her?”

“The concept of a resolution is rather idiotic. You’re assuming the year is going to go a certain way and developing a goal around it. Am I really the only person who realizes how stupid this practice is?”

“Why is it dumb to try and give yourself goals?”

He was changing his bandages when he heard the door open. “Its worse than it looks,” he said without looking up. “Don’t worry about it.”

She froze as soon as she caught sight of Ace, a mixture of being taken back by his, erm, chest, and the wound. “Bloody hell, Clarence,” she mumbled.

“I got in about 5 hours ago and my floor was Domless. This morning, I wake up and there is a Dom spooning with my bedpost. Past that you’re going to have to tell me.”

“You’ve only had five hours of sleep? That’s crazy,” she said in disbelief, quickly changing the subject. “Why were you out so late?”

“Oh,” Scorpius visibly relaxed. “Just as long as you know I’m a horrible person then.” He pushed her hair behind her ear almost affectionately. “Vic is lovely, sure. But I bet I’ve stared at you way more, well glared, but same thing.”

He kissed her softly and rested his forehead against hers. “That’s alright, I know for a fact my grandparents think I’m a disappointment, they’ve told me. We can be emotional trainwrecks together, if that’s alright.” He resumed kissing her, this time more gently then before.

Dom felt herself giving him a genuine smile at his comment, it was small, but there was no cockiness or sarcasm behind it. “Thanks, I can deal with you being in love with my cousin, as long as it’s not my sister.”

She kissed him back, closing her eyes for a moment. “If it helps, I don’t think my grandparents think you’re a disappointment, probably. As long as we both know this will be a trainwreck, I don’t want to stop. “ She smiled into the kiss before stepping back. “Come on, not here.”

“You’re still standing here? Fine. What do you want?”

“I was just wondering if you knew where your sister was.”

“I  understand New Years was a wild night for a lot of you, but why are you lying on the floor?”

“What? How’d I get on your floor, Jamie? “

“Dominique I don’t know what kind of boy you think I am.” He said letting her pull him out of the courtyard. As soon as they reached an empty hall he paused for a moment and pulled her back towards him, kissing her quickly before becoming serious. 

“Before we do any more of this lovely kissing, I just want you to remember I cheated on my girlfriend with a man who’s feelings I ignored, and with my best friend who is as you’ll remember your cousin.” Scorpius wasn’t sure why he was reminding her all of this just when she was starting to soften her glances at him but it seemed important. “Also I love previously mentioned best friend. So, I’m just letting you know before anything happens I’m a romantic trainwreck.”

Dominique’s reply to him was a laugh, pulling him into an empty hall; she let him pull her back in, kissing him gently before she stepped back for a moment. It took her by surprise when he began to seemingly word vomit everything wrong he’d done that she already knew, it was odd and yet, endearing?

“That’s okay, it’s all...somehow okay,” she paused, biting her lip for a moment. “I have a lot of insecurities and I’ve spent the past seven years of my life being incredibly jealous of my much prettier and smarter sister, I’m pretty sure I constantly disappoint my mother.  I’m an emotional trainwreck way deep down there but I really wanna keep doing this lovely kissing.”
