We’re BACK, baby! A couple weeks of these funny, brief history-filled rants by a high-off-his-ass Hubris and a few other special guests, then Apple Valley will get back up and running.
Historical note – Art learned Tragic Missile back here, and has (fortunately) not used it since.
In case you didn’t notice, this isn’t drawn by me. Between waxing workplace woes, rising responsibilities rooted in rearing my rowdy runt, and the breakdown and beginnings of burnout, I’m taking a...
A Question
If you could have someone appear before you right now - either someone who you either knew well 10 years ago but have completely lost track of OR someone you will know really well in 10 years but don't know yet - which would you choose?
It's official, I'm infected with Pony Fever.

Forgot to post this pic from A-Kon. Can’t remember it’s name I’ll call him Bong Servo
That's one of mine. The owner named him Dick Servo.
I can't believe you hate Napoleon Dynamite! :( You have no sense of humor :P
That's not a question.
Napoleon Dynamite
I was going to put this on Twitter, but it's too long, so I'll rant here.
I hated Napoleon Dynamite.
I'm a big fan of indie films, and regularly haunted the local arthouse venues when I lived in the city. When I heard there was some new movie (compared favorably to Ghostworld by a couple of my like-minded friends) I happliy trotted along to see what the fuss was about.
I'm not sure how to describe my experience watching the movie... I guess it was like watching a train wreck. A boring, slow one. One where the train didn't actually wreck, nothing caught fire, and nobody died. I guess what I'm saying is it was like watching a train park.
I sat in a nearly packed house, and noticed after a few minutes that I was the only one not laughing. I wasn't laughing because I didn't understand the jokes - I'm still not sure there were jokes. To this day, I still suspect that the movie is sort of like The Emperor's New Clothes - there are no jokes, nothing is actually funny in it, but nobody wants to admit it because everyone else apparently can see them.Â
The only time I did laugh was when the guy threw meat at the other guy and knocked him over, and that's just because I appreciate slapstick. Apparently, my sense of humor was completely out of phase with everyone else's, because the one instance where I did laugh was the time everyone else chose to reply to the film in somber silence.
Napoleon Dynamite is to comedy what Eraser Head is to... comedy. Same uncomfortable feeling, same degree of confusion, same lack of any actual humor. I've only walked out on a handful of movies in my lifetime, and given that I've easily seen several hundred movies in theatre, that's saying something. This was the second. I did eventually finish it a year or so later, hoping that time and perspective would change things, but no.
The Servo I built @michaelpoe needed a couple repairs... instead, he got a massive f'ing upgrade. Before, he was the Decepticon known as Dick Servo... now, he is Dickamus Prime.
Found at Goodwill. Did not buy, though I was tempted...
If the witty bit of dialog isn’t enough to explain, here’s what’s going on… as you probably know if you read the comic regularly, an accident in Hubris’ lab left Doyle with the ability to duplicate...
