Hi! Sorry, this is going to be hard because I’m bad at summarizing stuff like that 😭😭 and I’ll have to go back to many chapters 😞

There are interactions, but I’d say not that much since the story isn’t thaaaat focused on them (except Fleura’s maybe but it was angsty). Maybe Fleura (Ranamun’s child) and Clarice (Sonnaught’s child) had the most interaction with her? But now it’s mostly Fleura because she got focused on in the previous side stories. Most of Latil’s children other children are still really young so I think we’ll see more interactions in the future!!

Maybe @sirsirgirl (really sorry for the mention 😭) can help more with this question though!

Ohhh. As @wapdyn has mentioned, there’s not much content about Latil and her children together, at least not enough to confidently define her parenting style.

I’d say that, although Latil does show a softer side of her with her children, she isn’t necessarily a very present motherly figure for them. Unlike other stories, where children are brought to explore the protagonist caring and protective side, and strengthen the relationship between the parents, in MOTH this hasn’t happened yet, at least not actively.

However, I don’t mean to say Latil doesn’t care or doesn’t protect her children. Not at all. She does reflect a lot about her role in their lives, and she wishes them to grow safe and happy. But don’t expect to see Latil acting according to the usual portray of motherhood in fiction. Still, I don’t discard the possibility for that to happen in the future. Btw, we normally get at least one heart-warming scene between her and her children right when they’re born, when she can spend the most time with them.

I do have to clarify that there’s nothing abnormal in this. Latil is in fact very, VERY busy. I’ve seen many readers annoyed by this, but I’m not. In history, the ones who raised the kids were always the consorts, never the Emperor. The only difference is that in this case we have a female emperor and male consorts. I guess some people just have a prejudice against women who aren’t fulfilling the traditional role they play in parenting.

With that being said, we do know Latil has favorites. Her first favorite child was Clarice, then it changed to the fourth prince (Tasir’s baby). We also know that, although she’s tried, she doesn’t love Fleura the same as the rest. But these are all details mentioned by the narrator, Latil really doesn’t show a clear preference for any of her kids, as she some times does with her concubines. In other words, if the narrator hadn’t have mentioned it, I wouldn’t have noticed she has a favorite nor a least favorite.

@sirsirgirl Is there a reason why she doesn't have the same love for Fleura? I also heard that, I believe it was Fleura not too sure, Fleura doesn't like the 4th prince, would that be a reason she doesn't like him? Did the narrator give some kind of hint to why its different for Fleura

Even though it wasn’t really specified, I do think that Penelope was Claude’s first love: they were bethroted since childhood and Penelope was the only one who stayed by his side, showed him warmth and love when no one else did...

Then she got hungry for power, and resented Claude because he was powerless and wouldn’t be able to give her the luxurious life she wanted, and cheated on him with Anastasius.

By the way, Athanasia thought that Claude was very in love with Penelope because of what she read in < The Lovely Princess >, so she was confused by the dreams of Diana he gave her, and by how he seemed to miss her so much. I don’t remember if it was clearly said that Claude loved Penelope in TLP or if Athy deduced it herself, though.

Context: Lucas’ powers manifested when he was one year old. He accidentally hurt his older brother and since then, his family feared him and sent him to live away from them, in the annex of their mansion, with only his nanny, who also feared him. Desperate to get him from them, they eventually contact the wizard of the Tower of Obelia: that man would later become Lucas’ master and father figure. Lucas started to live with his master when he was approximately 15 years old, and received a proper education as the wizard’s disciple: Lucas studied magic both theorically and practically, and he wrote himself a lot of books about magic (Lucas was basically raised as a monk lmao). Then, one day, Lucas’ master sent him back « home » for an unknown reason.

Do you know why Spoon has stopped following thr light novel like they did? I read up to the part where Lucas cures Claude in the novel and, in my opinion, it's a lot better. Athanasia and Claude both develop better with Claude letting Athanasia out of the castle and trusting her to come back to him. And the part of Lucas coming back is a lot better than, "Hey Lucas, fix my dad." I don't mean to disrespect Spoon.

Yeah, I know Spoon has gone off plot. Like I respect it, the manga could be different like how some animes are different from the original. People will hate on it, and I personally prefer the light novel, but it's still pretty good.

Spoon, I think, wants to make their own rendition of the story, and I'm pretty sure they have permission. Since it's official and everything, it's just their personal preference, nothing else.

It may be to promote buying the original novel, but that's a speculation. Cause if they were both the same, then no one would buy the other and what not. Like how I love, absolutely adore the manga for Akame ga kill, but the anime is different and still pretty good so I love both. Ya know?

Did you know?

Claude is actually older than Felix! In the fifth book (so when Athanasia is almost 18), Felix says that he is almost forty, and he also says (Athy also confirms it) that Claude is older than him.

I sort of had an epiphany while reading this scene so I’ll probably translate it one day lmao

But please imagine. Toddler Claude meeting baby Felix. Claude being taller than Felix. Then Felix suddenly has a growth spurt and grows taller than Claude and Claude is like “? ?? ????”............. Claude trying to be big bro™️ and failing miserably (ending up bullying Felix instead)........... ah.... 💞

I always see people mentioning how Lucathy and Athykiel content was reduced compared to the novel but JenKiel(? IjeNette? Jennykiel?)’s role is also waayyyy less important!!

Novel!Jennette was truly in love with Kiel. For manhwa!Jen, her marrying Kiel was more like... the last piece for her picture perfect dream of a romantic perfect life (having a family + being loved + being married to a charming prince while being a princess), I think.

Novel!Jennette’s love for Kiel was a catalyst for a lot of things: her distancing herself from Athanasia, being kinda mean to Kiel sometimes, revealing her eyes to Claude... But in the manhwa, Jennette got rejected without much problems afterwards. Her relationship with Kiel didn’t change much.

(Also, in the novel, the second time Jennette met Claude, during Athanasia’s tea party, she actually went to walk for a bit because all the girls were talking about Kiel being perfeeeect and all, and they were basically like “haha but sir Alpheus appreciates lady Margarita like a sibling~” so she felt bad while in the manhwa she saw Blackie and tried to “catch” him, so it was not about Kiel too. It may seem a small detail but I think it’s also interesting how her romantic “interests” were also classified as “less important”, just like Athy)
