It was a relief to be back with Lucian, to feel his arms around her and know she was safe finally. She could lower her guard for the first time in days, and not have to watch her back warily. The lycans seemed uneasy of her, and she didn't blame them in the slightest. She was glad to be back with her mate, and that they both still lived.
Sonja followed him docilely into the tent, and removed what she could of her bloodied armour with shaking hands. Her mind raced and she tried to find the words to explain all that had happened, and all that they had to do. She was able to focus, when the armor was off and she wasn't breathing in the scent of her father's blood or incredibly conscious of the fact she was covered in it. Later, she'd be sure to wash it all off in the nearest body of water.
"My hand maiden passed a message along to Markus, a plea for his help in exchange to fulfill an old bargain that my....that Viktor never followed through on. My freedom, that of our child's life, and every lycan's freedom from enslavement.....even the power that I would inherit were Viktor to die--all in exchange for Markus's help in throwing a coup to overthrow and kill Viktor, and the keys to his brother's cell." Sonja began slowly, turning and leaning a little more into Lucian for support. Her decision weighed on her, and she felt so very tired. "William's children answer to you, obey you.....and there is no love lost between Viktor and Markus. He accepted the bargain."
The vampiress had never seen such carnage before in her life, she'd nearly vomited when she had realized she'd laid the killing blow on her father in the end, and seen the numerous bodies of deathdealers strewn about the courtyard. To have killed so many of her kin, had badly shaken her.
"Hundreds of vampires died tonight. I stabbed Viktor through the heart. He's dead. Markus will let us be, and settle wherever we wish, as soon as we deliver him William. A map to the prison itself, should do."
Something really was wrong, Lucian noted, as she was so docile as she followed him. His love was always so full of fire, to see it muted caused his nerves to stand on end. All he wanted to do was wrap her up tight in his arms and never let go, to keep her safe from everyone and everything around him. She didn’t need his protecting but she deserved it…
He was glad to see the bloodied armor on the ground and away from her. He would take her to the small lake he found to help her bathe off the rest of the blood. “It will be okay, my love.” His hand briefly ran against her belly before going to take her hand in his and raise it to his lips.
“The key to… will the wolves listen to me if their true alpha is free?” Lucian asked. He didn’t want to know what would happen if they freed William, but he would do it if it meant that it would lead to peace for his people, and a safe place to raise his family. That was really all he wanted, was his family and his pack safe. If it lead to more werewolves… so be it. “Do you know what the key is?”
“I’m unsure of a physical map, is there someone who built it still alive?” Blood memories… that would do just fine. He wasn’t fully aware of everything that went into containing William. He just knew that a special prison had been built. Hard to know when he was just a slave.
He'd come back to the thing about her killing Viktor. He wanted to give her a chance to process it once the logistics were figured out.
