2017 goals - climb more, work less - find real joy - live purely
the only thing that makes sense is to go up
moments
the constant mystery of "is it my phone lagging or am i about to get a text"
rewards come after the ordeal
its not how you handle the tempest, but how you live after that defines who you are

this is my boss, dave. he has been working on his van for over a year now picking up scraps of wood from the camp we work for slowly piecing his dream together day by day. this is also a dream of my, to make home wherever you park it. dave is the most humble man you will ever meet. he wont brag about his amazing ascents and adventures or that he was on good morning america. but he wakes up early every morning to help plan amazing trips for the kids that come here and to plan our bible studies in his already busy schedule. truly an example of a man of God.

“but overcome space, and all we have left is here. overcome time, and all we have left is now. and in the middle of here and now, don’t you think that we might see each other once or twice?” you have touched my heart and made such an impact in my life. through our adventures and endless times watching documentaries and looking at constellations. we have made a lot of memories that i will cherish forever. you will do amazing things this summer and i look forward to our letters. 2,715 miles is nothing we can’t handle. i look forward to you tackling me when you get back and hearing all about your new adventures. i love you so much, see you in a few months. ewing, va 5.3.16
what’s the point of being saved at a hospital if they’re just going to kill you with bills afterwards?
it all comes down to love.
something i wrote while at work this summer, daydreaming about life philosophies.
people will do anything to get away
from NOW.
people will glorify the past
(it wasn’t that great)
and idolize the future
(it won’t be that great either)
and turn their heads
and close their eyes
to avoid the present
we are scared.
terrified of the INFINITE
we hide our eyes from the empty
s p a c e
we cry “don’t look down”
when we are on the edge of a cliff.
we hide each moment because each one holds
infinity.
in each moment are endless possibilities
but our small minds can’t handle the
FREEDOM
without direction
we flounder and flail as we fly though each moment of our lives
with eyes closed
blindly
existing and waiting
for the false hope of a perfect future and
the foolish obsession with an imperfect past
we can’t let go
because without anything to clutch
we’ll fall
through that terrifying
infinity
which is
NOW.
