gAang cuddling headcannons?

op you hit a nerve. leme go off with this one because boy do i have some OPINIONS

gaang cuddling headcannons:

they all like to cuddle. zuko takes a little while to get there in terms of comfort but once he realizes how nice it is he quickly becomes the biggest cuddle bug of the group

each members’ status changes based on who they’re cuddling with. suki, for example, likes her head in sokkas lap, but will take a more guiding role with katara. zuko is always the little spoon w sokka

toph likes to sit on the ground between zukos legs. this way, she can lean against his belly, but if she simply brings her knees up to her chest, she can still see.

katara idly weaves or reads while cuddling. she often offers to read aloud for whoever is leaning on her shoulder. zuko is a crowd favorite. sometimes, katara will read to him for hours after everyone has gone to sleep. toph quickly joins in and late night stories become a nightly ordeal.

aang likes to lay on the couch, his head on sokka’s shoulder, who is sitting on the floor in front of the couch. sokka likes to paint when the gaang are hanging around with nothing to do, and will ask aang for helpful critique as he watches.

everyone always wants zuko, because he’s naturally warm. zuko secretly loves this.

katara likes to rest her chin on shoulders. sokka and aangs are her favorites.

aang is strangely calming to be in physical contact with. his energy somehow balances that of anyone in proximity. it’s kataras favorite thing in the world.

zuko is typically the first to fall asleep. he’ll pass out on the couch or floor, and instead of moving him, sokka simply curls up next to him when the rest of the gaang leave for their bedrooms. zuko catches on and starts doing it on purpose.

sokka is terrifyingly good at braiding hair. katara takes credit for this. suki and zuko can’t get enough of it.

on the other hand, toph prefers katara playing with her hair, since her own mother never showed her much affection, and katara has that mom energy™. katara knows this, of course, and is happy to play the part.

zuko often carries toph around on his shoulders

suki gives nose nuzzles. enough said

katara and aang are the couple that grow comfortable with physical distance, but need to have one extremity touching the other person at all times.

alternatively, zukka are all over each other. once sokka hits that growth spurt, zuko takes to sitting in front of him, so sokka can rest his chin in the crook of his neck.

suki picks up some tricks from ty lee once she joins the kyoshi warriors and becomes a FANTASTIC masseur. slept wrong? pulled something? hypertension? she’ll fix you right up

zuko likes to hum lowly to himself when laying against sokka. it puts sokka to sleep every damn time, without fail

I just think that it would make more sense and be extremely cool if, instead of “heartbeats”, Toph can feel someone’s chi moving in their body. like, it’s 2020, we know that heartbeat isn’t an indicator of honestly. I also think that it would fit really well with Azula’s status as a bender prodigy, someone whose fighting style and character arc is entirely focused around control, would be able to easily lie with her chi.

especially since Ty Lee is kind of implied to have some ability to sense chi, even though she describes it as an aura. Ty Lee commenting on Azula’s feelings when they were young, and Azula over correcting and trying harder to control, control, control what everyone else could see, would make sense. if Ty Lee can see it, anyone can see it, right? she needs to fix that until Ty Lee can’t see it, and then until no one else can see it.

(also if you have the ‘Ty Lee is an airbender/airbender descent’ headcanon, it ties in very neatly with her sensing chi as a visible cloud around someone. whereas Toph, who sense vibrations, sees it through movement in the body that she interprets as a heartbeat.)

okay so this is what people don’t understand about toph’s arc. when you’re disabled, you don’t want to accept help from anyone; you don’t want their pity, you don’t want to feel like a burden, you don’t want to be belittled, you don’t want to be “special” in all the wrong ways. toph was always closest to sokka, and her putting her full trust in him as she is completely helpless is a far greater sign of emotional growth than had she been able to figure out the situation on her own. keep in mind that toph is still very active and capable and badass in the scenes leading up to the climax, and moments before they crash and fall, sokka praises her for her talent and genius. it’s that balance that makes this important. she knows that when sokka shields her from falling rubble, or guides her across the airship, he still knows her to be capable, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t also recognize her weaknesses. in this moment, toph does need protection, and to ignore that in favor of her pride would be folly. but toph doesn’t feel patronized. she knows that sokka knows that she is a whole human person, which is all she’s ever wanted to be seen as. she’s letting herself be helped, and she’s letting herself be loved.

Remember how Kuvira got an earth prison in ROTE? (Wasn't it kinda senseless...since she was an earthbender?). I expected it to be similar to P'Lis prison, surrounded by ice (and platinum). This is my version of a "Prison-Kuvira".
