Deadly egg recall

The FDA has upgraded an egg recall issued last month to “Class I,” its highest risk level, as it warns the public that consuming the products could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall of 1,589,577 dozen white-shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs was initially issued by Midwest Poultry Services in late July, which warned they might be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.

According to the company, the eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3 and have sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17. The recalled egg cartons have either the code P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian Dates between 157-184.

Recalled eggs were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.  Recalled eggs were available to consumers at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana; Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and other smaller retail and foodservice outlets in these states plus Mississippi and New Mexico.

Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico are the currently affected states.

ok but like, surely if anything would drive you to suggest raising the legal age, it's that? legal ages are a pretty ugly crutch in general fir lots of things, but, well, kids do tend to be ... inexperienced with the world.

To clarify, I don't have an opinion on what kinds of bodymods should be assigned what legal age, but surely there's some evidence that would compel one, on a personal level, to believe the laws are too lax.

If they're of legal age they're definitionally not kids, and there are countless existing warnings and barriers for getting permanent body alterations. Your personal regret is obviously one thing, "I wish someone had stopped me" is a common excuse espoused by people who feel present day shame or regret. But one's own regret doesn't give them the authority to attempt wrestling the entire legal apparatus to bend society towards stopping other people from attaining those same body alterations, just because you wish you'd had more barriers to run into to stop you from getting what you thought you wanted

it’s interesting to me how villains kinda become easier to defend the more exaggeratedly evil they are. like if a character, say, blows up planets all willy-nilly and tortures people in incomprehensible ways just for fun, just commits horrors on an unimaginable scale with no remorse, there’s basically no human being who could ever exist on that level so it’s easy to be like yay wahoo i love evil! but if a character is a realistic, down-to-earth bad person in a way people can comprehend and compare to their own experiences? well you might just start wanting to tear their liver out with your teeth. if you’re me.
