I find so much comfort in:

– the cool September wind that rustles past the trees, slipping through my cracked open bedroom window.

– the emergence of spiced ciders, warm sweaters, and autumn decorations that accent neighboring homes. 

– finally breaking out the woollen socks that warm my perpetually cold feet, and setting out faded quilts that are nearly half as old as I am.

–paging through stew and soup recipes in my favorite cookbooks, and once again putting to use my old hand-me-down soup pot that is both weathered and well-loved.

– the flickering of lit candles that generously fill the room with their warm essence as the evening darkens.

– the changing leaves, waiting all day to experience “the golden hour” that’s seemingly only unique to the autumn season, and watching endless amounts of Gilmore Girls reruns.
