if you are thinking of maybe trying out running as a hobby it's good to know that numbers - speed, distance, miles per week, etc. - literally do not need to be part of it at all. like you do not need to measure any part of it whatsoever! you can choose to just start when you want and then stop when you get tired. if you're concerned about injury risks, learning how to self regulate your pace + to know when you are straining too much + to give your body time to recover does not in any way make injuries more likely than following online instructions that are not tailored to your physical ability, heart capacity, breathing, etc.

if you are just starting out, alternate light jogging for short amounts of time with walking until you build up your strength. pay attention to how your calves, thighs, feet and knees feel in the 48h after running. if pain persists, take a break. but there is absolutely no necessity to be timing or measuring any of it if that's something that would be hard or upsetting for you. you can just go!
