A bridal or reception gown, attributed to Lucile, 1907-09

Dress of ivory silk charmeuse, the skirt and bodice applied with chemical lace, taffeta ruffles, gold lamé rosettes and bouquets of roses formed from coiled pink and organza ribbon, others of soft pink chiffon studded with rhinestones, with silver embroidered stems and satin ribbon bows, shirred and gathered silk to the waist.

Provenance: Believed to have belonged to Mary Vaughan Williams a socialite from Philadelphia, who was widowed, re-married and later settled in Chicago. Similar decorations were used on Lucile’s ‘Merry Widow’ dresses designed for Lily Elsie in 1907..
