Okay, I donât expect to get any positive feedback on this post but I feel like thereâs something that has to be explained to you about Russia, Vladimir Putin and homophobia.
First of all, youâll be super shocked but Putin doesnât give a shit about ESC. He even doesnât choose those who are to represent Russia in the contest.Â
Whatâs more, Eurovision 2009 was held in Moscow and no one died that time. In fact, it was one of the best Eurovision shows of all time.
And no one would die if Polina Gagarina had won yestersday and brought Eurovision to Russia for a second time.Â
What concerns LGBT+ community, Putin doesnât care much about them, either. He actually talks on this topic only when heâs asked to. And heâs never said gays should be discriminated in any way.
And he doesnât kill gays (especially with his own hands) or whatever you think he does to them.
He just had to approve of that anti-propaganda law. Because if he hadnât done it, the people of Russia most of who (but NOT all of them! there are still many people who do support LGBT+) are homophobic would protest and shit on him. Itâs just the Russians. And Putin knows that. The country isnât ready for same sex marriage legalization and wonât be ready in 20 years more. A long time before the law was signed, Russia already was a terrible place for LGBT+ community. Queer teens have always been bullied there and history knows like thousands of cases when gay kids got assaulted for being themselves, so the law didnât change anything.
Whatâs more, IT WASNâT PUTIN WHO PROPOSED THE BILL.
So let me introduce Yelena Mizulina, the author of the law and Chairman of the Duma Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs.
She strongly protests against lgbt+ rights, divorces, abortions, surrogacy and the adoption of Russian orphan children by foreigners.Â
Also, here is Vitaly Milonov, another noted homophobic scumbag in the Russian government, a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg.Â
In 2013, he stated that gay athletes could be subject to arrest at the Sochi Olympics. Also he objects to teaching Darwinâs evolution theory and such subject as sex education in Russian schools; as well as abortions and other fundamental things people need to have rights for.Â
When Polina Gagarina (who, let me remind you, has nothing to do with politics and isnât a homophobe herself) took a photo with Conchita, he called her âa Satanâs worshipper disgracing Russiaâ and wished her to lose in the competition.Â
I repeat, POLINA GAGARINA ISNâT A POLITICIAN. She is just a talented singer representing her country at Eurovision. Itâs not her fault that she was born in a country ruled by homophobes and corrupts. And if you think you have a right to boo her for this, you are no better than the narrow-minded assholes you hate so much.
