It gives so much room for what ifs. BBC Merlin has a lot of what if moments.

This show creates so many ideas in such simple scenes.

And I can't help but imagine that every time, Arthur would slowly start to cling more to Merlin. How his initial fear of closeness, would fade into hugs and casual embraces, holding hands and brushing skin. While Arthur would like to be held in all these scenarios, I think the thing he wonders most about is how to hold someone else.

Because that's what he wasn't allowed to do. And it's what he dreams of when he looks at Merlin.
