When They Don't Expect You To Leave.
There was a time when someone I used to know seemed to enjoy causing me pain. They would eagerly watch my face hoping to feed off any reaction that I might give. Hoped that tears would stain my face and words of forgiveness would leave my lips.
What they failed to understand was that when pain becomes the old friend you have made peace with there is not much that can hurt you unless you allow it.
So when their face contorted in frustration I must admit deep down there was something deliciously entertaining about watching how much the embarrassment of their failures began to consume them.
I know that doesn't sound very pleasant, and yet I could not bring myself to care.
I wasn't sure if it was the exhaustion or if watching them torture themselves became too boring to watch, but one thing was for certain when it came time to leave like the unknown thief in the night I erased myself from their life like I had never existed in the first place.
