🌉 In China, there is a unique village built directly on an ancient stone bridge - the locals have constructed their homes, shops, and even entire streets right above the river, and for centuries they have lived and carried out their daily lives on this unusual “foundation,” seeing nothing out of the ordinary about their location.

🏯 Fun fact: such bridge-villages - known as “Fengyu Qiao” or “wind and rain bridges” - are a traditional architectural feature of the Dong people in southern China. They were built without a single nail, using only wood, and served simultaneously as a crossing, a community center, and shelter from the elements.
