" . . It's all gone. "
" .. I-I can't look- I don't want to look at it anymore. "
" That's okay. Come here, get some hugs. Look at us, instead.. "
" .. I-I want my mummy.. "
" I know.. I know. "
" .. What.. What do we even do now? There's.. There's nothing for us, even on the Mainland. Wellington Wells was our home, and then the War happened, and.. And then..- "
" .. Germany might've won over Wellington Wells. But they didn't win the whole War. You never knew the full picture. But I did. "
" .. What'd you mean? What'd you mean earlier when you said you 'tried to stop this'? "
" .. There's.. A lot about me you guys don't know. I.. I could see what was eventually coming. I knew Wellington Wells was going to crumble with the way everything was going, and so I- I tried, I tried my best to stop it. To keep everyone fed, keep morale high, push for more produce to be grown… I didn't want to see everything die. I didn't want to see you all die. That's why I also began to work on these escape plans. I planned routes, backup routes, I- I hope you'll forgive this but I even took some of your things, knowing you would forget they were ever there, so I could store them away safely so you'd have something left to call yours and not lose it all, just in case. And.. It happened anyway. Sooner than I thought. I don't know why. I did all I could to fix things, and yet. . "
" .. You saved us. You could've left on your own. You could've seen how things were going and vanished. But.. But you didn't. You stayed. "
" You really managed to save some of our things? "
" As much as I could. "
" .. You did this for us? "
" I did. Because you're my dearest friends. "
" Maria.. "
" .. You're our dearest friend too. "
"We'll be okay?.. "
" It'll hurt for a while. But I'm always going to be here. Someday.. You'll be able to be happy. Genuinely happy. "
" You promise? "
" I promise. "
Joytober Day 31 - Mainland.
" All these places had their moments,
With lovers and friends I still can recall.
Some are dead and some are living,
In my life I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers..
There is no one compares with you. "
Thank you for dealing with me posting in here every single day of October. I hope everyone's enjoyed Joytober and the story I told of these characters. :)
I'M GOING TO MISS DOING THIS SO MUCH!! It's been so fun having something to work on each day and motivation for completing it. Maybe at some point I'll do some more with them post-Joytober. It could be fun to show their new lives and overcoming their past in a healthy way.
But for now.. We've come to the end of our time. ;)
Kate gently rocked the little girl in her arms, Gwen, who was beginning to quiet down, replacing her frantic cries with soft whimpers. Elmo stood over the unconscious attacker, a faint blue residual energy flickering around his hands.
Megavolt: He’s down for the count, Kate. A little too eager for his own good.
Kate: (Looks at Sally) She’s a beautiful baby, Sally.
The woman, Sally, flinched sharply at the sound of her name. Her eyes darted between Kate, a girl who looked like a detective, and Megavolt, the man who had just used electricity without any source
Sally: Wait, how do you know my name? Who are you people? You broke into my home… and then you saved us.
Megavolt: We’re not the ones who broke in, Sally. We saw what was happening. We’re here because of what happened years ago.
Kate: We found your old house in the Garden District. We know what happened to your mother and sisters. We thought you might still be alive, and we were right.
Sally’s face paled further, the sudden mention of the past tragedy causing her to sway slightly. She looked exactly like the terrified, missing girl, just decades older.
Sally: The Garden District? Nobody... nobody was supposed to know I survived. I’ve been hiding here, in Hamlyn, since… since that night. I changed everything.
Megavolt: Hard to change things when the past keeps chasing you, isn’t it? That man on the floor—was he connected to your family?
Sally: Ah.. no, he isn't, he's just a customer who wanted Blackberry Joy.
Kate: He won’t be bothering you again, Sally, and what exactly is Blackberry Joy?
Sally looked at the two strangers — the saviors who knew her deepest secret and held her daughter sacred. Relief slowly replaced her fear as she gestured them to her broken machine, where she made the Blackberry Joy.
Sally: It's a new flavor of Joy I created, and since the machine is broken, I have to find parts and ingredients to make more of them.
Kate: You make Joy?
Sally: Not the original formula, but I just started experimenting with it. The Bobbies seem to like them a lot, and that made Verloc jealous.
Megavolt: Anton Verloc? Arthur mentioned him once when we helped him escape Wellington Wells.
Sally: You two met Arthur? D-Did he escape successfully?
Kate: Yeah, he did. Do you know Arthur?
Sally: Yes, we used to be childhood friends, but since he started taking Joy like everyone else, his memories became distant.
Megavolt: Make sense, what about Verloc?
Sally: He's... my ex.
Kate: Ex?
Sally: Yes, he is also Gwen's father, but he doesn't know that.
Kate and Elmo look at each other, then look back at Sally.
Kate: We'll help you find those parts and ingredients.
Sally: Really? You two would do that for me?
Megavolt: Of course, why do you think we came here in the first place?
As soon as they head back again to the Garden District, Kate saw an old house in the left corner. When they got inside, the place was dilapidated with furniture smashed, walls peeling, and the smell was a mix of sewage and dried blood. Kate notices a doll on the floor, picking it up, which triggers another ability of Kate's demonic powers. A flashback of three dead bodies slumped in the kitchen: a mother and two daughters. But there was also a family picture on the wall, and there are actually 3 girls. Then the flashback ends, and Elmo puts a hand on her shoulder in worry.
Megavolt: Honey, did you have a vision?
Kate: Yeah, I did, this house used to belong to a mother and 3 girls before, but only two were dead.
Megavolt: Two? What happened to the other?
Kate: My guess is that she is still alive.
Megavolt: Any idea who this missing girl is, Kate?
Kate: Yeah, caught a glimpse on the family album book that was left open.

" I know, I know. I tried- I tried so hard to stop this, but- I'll explain that later. I need you guys to stay close to me, don't leave my sight! Don't take your Joy, keep that hidden or the people left alive will go rabid. We're going to Britannia Bridge, some of the tunnels there collapsed recently but I've figured out another route. Joytober Day 30 - Destruction.
London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, falling down..
London Bridge is falling down. .
My fair lady.
100 LAYERS FOR THIS ONE, LADIES, GENTLEMEN, THEYS, AND GAYS! So I hope you all like it, because this took me about 7 straight hours to work on from start to finish. I'm INCREDIBLY proud of it. :)
Kate and Elmo were just walking around on the beach when they heard the noises of someone chanting. As they turn a corner, they see a group of people wearing strange articles of clothing, and in the center stands the statue of Uncle Jack himself. Kate approached one of the participants, a man in his mid-20s.
Kate: Excuse me, sir, what are you guys doing?
Man: We're praying for our dear lord and savior, Uncle Jack.
Megavolt: The man on the TV?
Man: TV? You mean a tellie?
Megavolt: Yeah.
Man: Are you two from out of town?
Kate: We're from the States.
Man: The Americas? Oh, lovely place there, say, would you two like something to eat?
He pulls out what looks like a platter of disgusting food.
Megavolt: Um, is that a fing-
Kate covers his mouth to not finish that sentence.
Kate: No, thank you anyway.
The man shrugs as he slurps down a wriggly worm like it's pasta.
" Told you it was a good idea to bring the gas masks! The air here seems nasty! "
" Tell me about it! Can you understand what half these people 'round here are even saying, Marve? "
" Sounds like a mix of modern English and something much older. Wonder where a bunch of Wastrels learnt that from! "
" Probably from these old books like the one we dug up? "
" Maybe! Are those gits still following us by the way? "
" Nnnnope! We've lost them, looks like! Doesn't mean we stop running though! Don't want to have a single Wastrel trying to turn us into Downers like these lot already are! "
" Right! Back home we go! Last one there does the laundry for the pair of us! "
" Bold choice! I'll show you a real sports-star, hah! "
Joytober Day 29 - Plague.
A result of Haworth Lab dumping their chemical waste into the Garden District, sicknesses were inevitably contracted by the Wastrels, deteriorating the brain, and typically killing them eventually too. Fortunately for the boys, so long as you have a gas mask and have no open cuts and wounds, you'll be right as rain!
Right as rain when it comes to the sicknesses and plagues, at least.
There's only so much disaster a city can handle. .
Since we're coming to the end of Joytober, I figured this was a good opportunity to wrap up this little mini story-arc! :D
📺 " Simon Says.. Fall down! Simon Says, get up! Simon Says, roll over! Simon Says, stand up! "
" Oh bloody hell, maybe I made a mistake picking a shovel for this! "
" A shovel's perfect! Imagine how hard that'd hit a soldier! C'mon Marve, you're plenty strong! "
" Thank God it's not raining anymore, or else it'd be way too soggy for anyone to play in! "
📺 " Brilliant! Simon Says- "
" Oh dear, here we go- "
📺 " - Do everything I do and shout even if I don't say Simon Says! "
" Oh for the love of- "
" HERE WE GO! "
📺 " SWING RIGHT! SWING LEFT! SWING LOW, SWEET CHARIOT! Hahaha! LUNGE! LUNGE AGAIN! LUNGE AGAIN! "
" I AM SO SORRY IF I ACCIDENTALLY THWACK SOMEONE WITH MY BAT- "
" OOHH THIS IS TRICKY TO KEEP UP WITH! "
" NOW IT WAS DEFINITELY A BAD IDEA TO PICK A SHOVELLLL, SHOULD'VE GONE WITH THE SPANNER INSTEAD! "
📺 " STEP FORWARD! RIGHT! LEFT! RIGHT! LUNGE! LUNGE AGAIN! FINISH HIM! FATALITY! "
" HAHAHAH, UMBRELLAS ARE PERFECT FOR A LUNGE! TAKE THAT, FILTHY GERMANS! "
" DOWN WITH THE BOCHE! "
" DOWN WITH THE BLOODY BOCHE, HAHAH! "
" BEAT THEM ONCE, BEAT THEM ONCE MORE! "
" NEVER TO HURT THE WELLIES AGAIN! "
" Bravo, everyone! Jolly good show! If anyone's accidentally gotten a scrape or bumps and bruises, I've got some things here to help - Alongside some cake, of course. "
" Oh Maria, you never let us down do you? "
" I try my best, heheh! "
" Thank goodness, I could do with some cake. "
" I think Carl might've thwacked my arm a bit there. "
" I SAID I'M SORRY-!! "
Joytober Day 28 - Old Foes!
After the War, Wellington Wells has always been wary for if their invaders were to ever come back. Not only do they continue their old civilian efforts like Dig for Victory and Make Do and Mend, but the Victory Memorial Camp works hard to train soldiers for the possible return of their German intruders, or another War entirely. And though the Home Army has plenty of soldiers in the Camp to protect the people, the Wellies are determined to be ready themselves to protect their home alongside the military!
They lost everything already, after all.
They have so little left.
Only three days left! I'm going to be so stunned by the amount of free time I'll have after these are finished. But I also don't want it to end! I love WHF so much.
" What movie would you want to watch while you're over? I've not really got many adventure movies or anything boys might like, but- "
" Oh that's okay really! Do you have any Disney? "
" You like Disney?! "
" I love watching Disney with Jeffery! His favourite's Bambie. "
" I have Bambie! It's on a film reel, though. Mummy and daddy got it for me as a reward for winning Junior Field Commander for the Battle of Flowers, 'cuz Bambie came out that same year. I can probably get the film projector set up, though. "
" If that's what you want to do - I'm more than happy to rewatch a couple dozen more times, heh! "
" . . . "
" I can get a proper pillow for you if you want, doll. "
" I'm alright, my peppermint! Your lap is plenty comfy! .. Though if your legs start going numb then you'll need to let me know so I can scoot a bit. "
" Pffheheh, gotcha. We can decide what we wanna play next then - Assuming you don't doze off in the sun! "
" Can you blame me? How often have we gotten much proper sun here lately? "
" Fair point. I guess an afternoon sun-nap would be nice too. We can play after, yeah? "
" I'd like that. We could play Scrabble later? "
" Oohh, or Yahtzee! "
" Y ou get too loud during Yahtzee! "
Joytober Day 27 - Old Friends!
In troublesome times, the universe will always find that someone destined for you, someone to fall back on and hold for all eternity. hey all have each other, as close as friends could possibly be, bonded through pain, the desire to forget, and the happiness that came from being together. But some of them have been not only old friends, but old childhood sweethearts too, and not even Joy can erase it.
Whoops! Seems the Department of Archives, Printing, & Recycling considered this too upsetting for the citizens of Wellington Wells to know about! That's unfortunate.
. . .
Buuuuut, lucky for you.
I always come with receipts.
" WE DID IIITTT-! "
" Really-? Really really-!? Oh yay! "
" Really really, Mickie! We did it! We won! "
👤 " JOLLY GOOD PASS THERE, CARL! WE WERE ABLE TO SCORE IT JUST BEFORE THE TIMER! "
👥 " WE WOOONNN!! WE ACTUALLY DID IT!! "
" HOORAY-! "
" WE'RE THE CHAMPIOOONNSS! THREE CHEERS FOR WRITHLINGTON SCHOOL!! HIP HIP- "
🗣️ " HOORAY! "
. . .
" So I stand here, mum? "
" Yes, that's perfect sweetie. I'll be right here on your left, and your dad will be on your right. "
" Are you sure you're not too warm in your puffy outdoor jacket, Sasha? "
" I'm okay! "
" Ooh ooh, where do we stand? I wanna stand here too! "
" Mind if your siblings stand just next to you, Sasha? They won't fit in frame if they stand next to both of us. "
" That's fine! Martha, why don't you come stand with me and mama here? And then Colin, you can stand on this side of me with papa. "
" On this side..! Okay! "
" Yaaayy! Do I look smart for the picture? "
" Absolutely! You both look absolutely splendid. "
Joytober Day 26 - REDACTED
I was honestly worried going into this one about whether this would come out the way I envisioned it, but I think this one's became my favourite edit to do so far!
And since I'm nice, here's the in-colour version of the newspaper & pictures. :)
Finally, they reach the end of their journey. They head to the train station and reach the bridge. While there, the trio suddenly encountered someone who was waiting there. Arthur doesn't recognize him because of his mask but once taken off, he immediately was caught off guard. The man standing before them is someone from Arthur's past, Chief Inspector Peters.
Arthur: You...
Inspector: It's been too long, Mr. Hastings.
Megavolt: Arthur, do you know this guy?
Inspector: My name is Chief Inspector Peters, and, yes, I actually know Mr. Hastings.
As the four of them walk across the bridge, Arthur continues to hear Percy crying out and laments how heinous he truly is while Kate and Elmo try to comfort him. The Constable notes that some people are better prepared than others to handle the truth, as well as the guilt and anguish that comes with it, and offers Arthur an Oblivion Pill, which will make him completely and permanently forget everything. Arthur was hesitant as he tried to get, but Kate stopped him.
Kate: Arthur, do you really want to do this? What if Percy is still out there?
Megavolt: Yeah, you can't give up at what you already started, man.
Arthur was surprised by their protests; their eyes can say it all: determined and full of hope, the kind Percy wants from him. So, he refuses, and the Inspector nods as he puts the black pill into his pocket. Arthur hugs both Kate and Elmo as he says goodbye to them and promises to write to them when he gets to the mainland, walking off further across the bridge. Back in town after helping Arthur three weeks ago, Elmo and Kate received Arthur's letter that he had reached mainland Britain as promised. That is one person helped down, now who should they help next?
" Look who's brought cake~! "
" YESSSSS, STRAWBERRY CAKE! It's not a party without your strawberry cake, doll! "
" These cupcakes are delicious! You did wonderfully making these, Maria! And champagne! We really pulled out the stops for this year's Victory Day. "
" I aim to please, heheh! I've had the good bubbly saved for a while for a super special occasion such as this. Where's a good place to put these flowers on the table, by the way? I didn't grow these for nothing after all! "
" If we move the plates with the apple pie and tarts over a little, you could put them on the table just there between me and Carl. That would look just fine and dandy, I'd say. "
" That's fine by me! How's about a toast, Marve? Since you get to sit right next to me and put up with rowdy me, hahah! "
" Well of course, my ever-extroverted friend! Cheers! To Victory Day! "
" Cheers to Victory Day! "
" Cheers to our Victory! "
" Cheers to our fortitude and God bless Britannia! "
" Amen to that! God save the King! "
" Heh, amen to that indeed. "
Joytober Day 25 - The "Victory"
Don't you remember? We won!
Why wouldn't you want to celebrate the fact that the War was won?
We triumphed with English Cleverness, Patience, and Fortitude!
.. What do you mean that's not how it goes?
It couldn't have possibly gone any other way, right?
📻 " We interrupt our programme to bring you a special broadcast. The German news agency Trans-Ocean said today in a broadcast, that the Allied Invasion had begun. I repeat; The German news agency Trans-Ocean said today in a broadcast, that the Allied Invasion had begun. There was no allied confirmation. The German broadcast could be one which, allied leaders have expected, would be made with the purpose of upsetting patriot plans inside the conquered countries. This bulletin has come to you from the NBC Newsroom in New York. There is no allied confirmation. The Associated Press recorded the broadcast, which said that the the Invasion had begun from the west, and that the French port of Le Havre was being shelled. Le Havre lies 100 miles from the English port of Portsmouth, and is 80 miles south of the English coastal town of Newhaven.. "
".. If that's true.. God, are they really that close? Portsmouth isn't that far away by car or bus, and if they make it to England.. They'll make it to us on the islands. What do we do then? What do I do then?.. "
" . . . "
" ..-! Hah.. You kicked again.. You don't like it when mummy's upset, do you? I'm sorry, sweetie, it's just.. Very scary out here, right now. But.. I hope that when the war's over, and you're born and sleeping all cosy in your new cot, that everything will be okay.. Mrs Richton from next door helped me with setting it up, even though she's further along with her little one than I am. I don't know how the hell she stays so active.. But I'm grateful for her help. Maybe you and her kid, when you're both here.. You can be friends? That would be nice.. Wouldn't it? "
Joytober Day 24 - The War.
With a husband at war and her first child on the way, Theresa spent many of the war days just trying to make it by. The community of Wellington Wells was so kind and pleasant, it always had been since she moved there as a child, and even if she couldn't pull her weight in the factories or the jobs the men had before the war began, they gave her help anyway.
And then one day, soon enough, she wasn't alone anymore.
And she held little Daliah Morrowich with warm arms and a tired smile.
" SASHA! SASHA COME HERE! "
" What's the ruckus about, Clarissa? "
" We've got a Black Dog! Carl and Rufus and his other sports mates spotted her, but she's bloody fast! "
" A Downer? Oh dear! That won't do! No Bobbies to handle it? "
" None near here! We've got to take responsibility like Uncle Jack said to! "
" She's over here! I found her! "
👤 " Good find, mate! "
" Why don't you want to cheer up, dearie? You know it's the right thing to do! "
" Perk up, you! You have a choice to be happy, so why not be happy? "
🎒 " And what were you doing by the cricket field, ey? Trying to bring us down too? That won't do! "
💧 " PLEASE, PLEASE STOP-! I WAS JUST LOOKING- MY BOY, HE USED TO- "" Oh, this poor lady! Don't worry, you won't have to feel so blue anymore! "
" Has anyone got some spare Joy to lend our poor soul here? "
" I've got plenty! Hope she likes Chocolate! "
" . . . "
" Do any of you even know what you're doing? What you're doing is wrong?.. No. No, you don't. You think you're helping. You really do. You don't understand.. Don't understand that you're hurting people.. "
" . . . "
" Hopefully that woman spots the open shed, and she can hide 'til they leave. I've just.. Got to hold on a bit more. It's almost all ready and in place for us all to leave. And then.. Then it'll be okay. I hope. "
Joytober Day 23 - Downers.
To refuse happiness is to remember your past.
The past that everyone wants to bury deep and forget ever happened.
The sacrifices they did. The lives they lost. The scars they bare.
Who would want to willingly remember that?
Perhaps because running away from the pain only makes it worse.
📺 " And it's another fabulous day in Wellington Wells! The sun is up, and the weather is overcast, and only slightly rainy, with occasional patches of lovely sunshine. Wakey-Wakey, everybody! "
" Ooh, good, I finished my cuppa and got the TV turned on just in time! Good morning, Uncle Jack! Wakey-Wakey, everybody! "
📺🎵" Good morning to you! "🎵
🎵" Good morning to you! "🎵
📺🎵" Good morning to you! "🎵
🎵" Good morning to you! "🎵
📺🎵" Good morning, dear friends!~ " 🎵
🎵" Good morning, dear friends!~ "🎵
📺🎵" Goooooood morning to yooooouu! " 🎵
🎵" Goooooood morning to yooooouu! " 🎵
" Ahhh, I was able to catch the morning programme this time! No oversleeping for me! "
" Hahah, haven't forgotten my breakfast! The toast is toasting, and my tea is freshly made! Just got to take my morning Joy. "
" Got to get my morning stretches in first! Carl said those are also important to remember after all. "
" Oh, I do love a good sing-song in the morning during spring-cleaning! .. Is it still spring-cleaning if it's not spring anymore? Hm! I'll have to ask the others next time we chat. "
📺" I hope you all had a lovely night's sleep, with lovely dreams. It's shaping up to be a wonderful morning. And I think I can promise you, that it's just going to get better all through the day. "
" .. A lovely day indeed.. Hahah.. Hm. "
Joytober Day 22 - Fan Club!
Everyone loves Uncle Jack in Wellington Wells - After all, he's practically the face of the entire city, from isle to isle! You can't say no to learning some Funny English Customs, some helpful News Hour, some anecdotal I Hear You, some laughs at Humour Hour, and of course his ever-enjoyable Nighty-Night storytimes and cheerful Wakey-Wakeys to lift your spirits in the morning! Everyone's a part of the Uncle Jack Fanclub, because everybody loves Uncle Jack!
" The weather's not too bad for some lunch, is it? "
" Could be better though! Guess we should've checked the news forecast this morning. "
" With how busy Dr Faraday had us? You're joking. Still, as long as it doesn't start to rain, we'll be all roses. "
" We didn't check the weather forecast either - I meant to, but I forgot to write it down to remember! "
" Better to forget the weather forecast than to forget our lunches entirely! How is Dr Faraday, anyway? "
" Oh, you know.. Same as usual. Inventing and making us run about like headless chickens. What about you two ladies? Been a bit since we had a lunchtime chat. "
" We went to the tea-rooms down at Grassmarket Park not too long ago with our friend Maria, and the other day we went with the whole group to show them the updated House of the Future Exhibit! "
" You boys should go sometime, they've added so many new things there! "
" Blimey, have they? .. Maybe it wouldn't be too bad to go when we have the time to spare, ey James? "
" That's assuming we ever GET the spare time, Roger, you numpty. .. But I guess an 'outing' together wouldn't be too shabby. "
Joytober Day 21 - Houseboys!
They might seem like quite unlikely friends, but Daliah and Clarissa love a good lunchtime catch-up with Dr Faraday's two Assistant Houseboys, Roger and James! After all, in Wellington Wells, anyone can be friends with anybody!
It's a small group of Wellies, but they remember who each other are, and what they are. Why they're.. Different, to the norm. Why their love's a little peculiar. They meet up every now and then when the time's right, so each of them know the others are still there supporting them. So that they can celebrate their love discreetly, privately, and without judgement.
Another week of Joytober is done! This is another more simple day edit, but it was the best idea I had for the prompt to work lol. The gays of Wellington Wells would all absolutely be covert besties.
" Carl..- I-I'm sorry, I really really tried to do something, but.. "
" Shhh, hey, it's alright Mickie. I'm here now. I'll handle it. "
" .. Mummy's going to get mad at you for messing up your good clothes. "
" She'll be even madder at these lads when she finds out they hurt you this bad. Now just stay behind me, alright? "
" .. Okay.. "
" Ooooohh, Mousey-Mickie's gone running and hiding! Who's he hiding behind?~ "
" I'm his fucking brother, and now you're gonna scram before I beat some sense into you for hurting him! "
" . . . "
" Whatcha got there, pretty-boys? Somethin' you wanna share with the old lads and ladies you've all tossed outta the village? "
" . . . Marve, get behind me. "
" W-What-? Carl, you can't be serious- "
" I know what I'm doing. You're not in any condition to fight; Protect the crate, I'll make an opening, and when I say to run, you RUN, alright? Might have to take a more tricky route back, but you've got our gas-masks, yeah? "
" .. Yeah. Alright.. I trust you. "
" Talkin' about something over there? Care to share that with the class too? "
" Yeah, how's about you mind your own fucking business? "
" Temper, temper! Not met a pretty-boy from the village like you able of fighting back before. Aren't you afraid? Gonna run back home to mummy? "
" You want a reason to run? I'll give you a fucking reason to run, you bloody tossers! "
Joytober Day 20 - Responsibility
Always the protector, no matter what may be.
Carl's younger brother was always a bit different to the other kids his age. Not sick, just.. Different. Quieter. Softer. More emotional. Easy to pressure, or scare.
When he found out Mickie was being bullied, Carl stepped in. Chasing them off time and time again until his little brother was safe.
He misses him.
