What helped me write trauma better is remembering that the nervous system learns predictions. If danger used to come after quiet, calm can feel threatening. If kindness used to come with a price, kindness can feel suspicious. So healing is not just “they know they’re safe now.” Healing is the slow, annoying, deeply unfair process of teaching the body that the old prediction is not always the present truth.

Something neuroscience-y that helps with prose: attention is selective. A character will not notice everything in a room. They will notice what matters to their goal, fear, desire, training, wound, or obsession. A jealous character notices hands. a hungry character notices food. A soldier notices exits. A lonely character notices pairs. Description becomes character when attention has a bias.

If any of you get a message/comment/ask like this, block it and move on. They are scams. I received one not so long ago that tried to bait me into believing I received a false report and that I needed to contact someone outside of Tumblr. When asked why, they tried to rush me into doing it. A red flag for scams is that they want you to rush things. The less you think about it, the more likely it is for you to fall pray.

I've been enjoying seeing this trend on my TikTok FYP so I decided to make my own for the season that's the literal namesake of my Tumblr page for a reason.
