So I just got into infinite and am also a relatively new pop fan but I'm nervous of not liking sunggyu. Because I heard he bullies his members especially sungjong and I don't want to see that cuz the only other group I have really enjoyed was cnblue and yonghwa is a great leader I heard you were a great infinite blog and was wondering if you could give me info on them especially sunggyu cuz I thought he was the most attractive one but I don't want him to be an asshole Sorry for the long post
Well first of all hi!!!!! Welcome to the inspirit fandom!!! and no need to apologize for the long post Iâm happy to answer it the best I can ^^
Ok now on to your concerns. First off I understand you completely. This doesnât surprise me that you would be worried about Sunggyu since I see where he could come off as an asshole. I mean the first time I saw Infinite in action was on the first episode of their show Ranking King and I remember my first thoughts on Sunggyu was âwho is this butthole? I think I like him.â
 The thing with Kim Sunggyu is he is a very complicated man, not one you can sum up in one sentence easily. But I can tell you this right off the bat, that whatever you see or hear, he truly loves the members of his group and he is definitely not an asshole no matter how he may come off at times.
I think thereâs a lot of reasons why people say this about him. For example, he can definitely be strict with the band at times. For example if you watch one of the shows from their debut days he is very tough on the members in practices. But I liken this to the strictness of a parent or an older brother. He takes being a leader very seriously and Infinite has gone through a lot of hard times to get to where they are. They couldnât have done it without his strict leadership, Iâm sure of that.Â
Now when it comes to his personality outside of being a leader you have to take in to account how much showmanship might be going into it. A lot of idols can fall into these roles and they sometimes perpetuate them, whether for the fans enjoyment or because theyâre really like this we canât be sure. With Sunggyu itâs in his character to be a bit snarky with the members at times. Itâs all done in a playful way and not out of some form of malice. Like Iâve said he truly loves the other members of Infinite as Iâll show you in a bit.Â
Itâs also important to keep in mind that itâs in the character of the group for them all to pick on each other and be playful in that way. They had a whole variety show that was pretty much dedicated to them making fun of each other. They all make fun of Sunggyu a lot as well, and I mean a lot.
As a person that analyzes this band and itâs members frequently I try not to judge as much on what is put directly in front of me. I watch whatâs going on in the background and I watch how they interact with each other naturally. And you can tell a lot by how they act around people that arenât members of the band.
For example, Sunggyu might play around with the other members and maybe come off to people as rude, but he is also one of the most respectful idols there is. He is known for always being polite and always bowing 90 degrees. Like soâŚ
He is seriously one of the most humble idols youâll find. These qualities⌠his humbleness, his respect, his humility. Those all tell me that he in no way is an asshole. They are characteristics youâd be hard pressed to find in someone that truly is an ass.
Iâve also heard stories of Sunggyuâs kindness. I read a fan account once that said that he gave some fans money to get a cab home. Itâs a gesture that shows no greed and only concern for the well being of his fans.Â
I know that many people feel that Sunggyu can come off as an asshole. This isnât the first time Iâve heard it, but we have to take into account whatâs a joke and what isnât, whatâs for tv and what isnât, etc.Â
Instead just look at him with this band that he loves. Look at him with each member and just judge for yourself what kind of person he is. It only takes a moment to see how much love he possesses and what a beautiful person he is.
Trust me anon. Kim Sunggyu is a wonderful man with a lot of love in his heart. Donât you worry. You canât go wrong with any of these boys. Youâll be in love with every one of them in no time.
