@katherine-blye
Little Accidents || WilliamxKatherine
"Nevermind. I recognize your face" William looked away towards the other doctors and nurses who passed by. He scratched on his head. The words came out wrong "It’s, nevermind again. I can be wrong, but.. What’s your name? If you don’t mind me asking, of course. You can keep it private if you wish." He smiled.
Katherine was suprised, to say the least. She was sure she never met this man but was she really? Her eyes widened in concentration while she tried to remember but the attempt was uttelry pointless. Suddenly, she got curious and thoughts about her frustrating relative left her mind. Why was she so famailiar to this man? "My name is Katherine. Katherine Blye. Does it ring any bell?", she asked a little confused but excited at the same time. This situation was all kinds of weird.
What are you hiding from Sofia?
Why do you think I’m hiding something from her?
Little Accidents || WilliamxKatherine
"He might be on lunch, if I’m not mistaken. He was talking about it" He might not had heard right because he’d been too busy staring down in a few papers about a patient he’d to try figure out what was wrong with her. It was something about this woman he could remember. Perhaps from the pictures his childhood friend had showed him "You look rather familiar but I cannot remember if I’ve met you" William said.
"That's just perfect.", Katherine murmured silently, cursing the moment when she agreed on coming here to let Saint David examine her. But, it seems, he wasn't that perfect in the end. He was as human as her since he needed food. That was a pleasant suprise. She looked a little confused to the man, glancing at his features again to be sure. "Sorry, but I think you confuse me with someone. I have good memory if it is about faces and I don't remember yours.", she said with her most polite smile despite she was utterly irritated by her relative.
Little Accidents || WilliamxKatherine
William slammed the door after him to the dressing room. He was tired and had been working since 6 AM this morning. There was no chance for him to even argue about his schedule. It was as it was. William rounded the corner and a woman bumped into him. He glanced up at the woman and raised his eyebrows “Sorry..” he murmured “You’re K..I mean..Have you gotten any help yet?”
Katherine took a step back, then looked at the man in the face. She was sure she never saw him before but this was not a big thing in Hamptons. Many new people felt the urge to move here, God knows why. She was good in San Francisco and she hadn't wanted to come back but she had to do out of fear for Sofia. "Uhm, no. I came to see Dr. Collins but it's a waste of time because I'm not that sick and he seems to be missing.", she said, already irritated by her brother-in-law's abscene. She shouldn't have to listen to her sister.
little accidents
How she hated hospitals. Moreover, how she hated hospitals when she had to search for a nerve-rackingly perfect doctor in it who actually was her brother-in-law. She was feeling a little ill nowadays. It was nothing, maybe she'd just managed to catch the cold but her sister insisted for her to go to the hospital so David could check on her and see if she needed some pills or something. But this was only a waste of time.
She just turned by a corner when she almost bumped into someone. It was only good reflex she could stop in time to stand exactly in front of a doctor with a suprised look on her face. "Woah, watch out, Mister."
Christopher took a sip from his drink while he watched the woman sit down next to him. He usually drank all alone because that’s how he liked to be but this could be good for a change. “I’m Christopher.”
She sat down next to the man and gestured for the bartender to order a glass of wine. She have been finding herself in bars recently in the evenings, especially when Sofia didn't spend the night home. It was good to blow off the steam sometimes. "It's nice to meet you.", she said politely, turning back to Christopher. Although, she didn't know him, she thought that name suited him just well. "You come here a lot?"
drink away the bad
Alicia got the impression that Katherine was embarrassed by what she had just done and had a feeling that she would be the one ordering drinks from here on in. How was she even supposed to go about answering that question. Alicia couldn’t really be honest about it, she couldn’t tell Katherine that she became a doctor in her new life in order to repay the debt she held. In truth, she retrained as a doctor so that she could somehow repay the lives of all those she killed. There was a long list and she knew she would never be done owing but it was an aim to fulfill in what she hoped would be a long life. Instead she chose to explain why she originally became a doctor almost a century and a half ago. “Why I became a doctor?” She smiled softly and took a sip, perhaps her reaction was a little to rehearsed. Was Katherine beginning to notice? “My father believed that a woman’s place was in the home, I begged to differ. I suppose becoming a doctor was my way of proving him wrong.”
This question of hers wasn't the embarassing, sexual or shameful kind people usually ask when playing this game but one she was indeed interested in that topic. Alicia cursed her job a lot and, to say the truth, she was a little skeptical herself about the absolute goodness of being a doctor. There was David, her brother-in-law but he was an entirely different case. He was like perfect in anything so he hasn't counted. She felt like rolling her eyes just thinking about him. She took a sip from her drink while she waited for Alicia's answer. When she got it, Katherine couldn't help herself, she had to laugh but it was nothing about the answer. "Well, when I had parent issues, I ran away from home and didn't come back only 3 years ago. I was 16 then, so I guess you handled you issues better.", she said with a bright smile that was the alcohol in her. She never knew bitter or sad when she was drinking. "It's truth for me this round, too.", she announced befora Alicia could as much as ask the question.
don't let the water drag you down
She was frozen to the spot and the pain radiated from her cheek to her whole face. It felt like it was burning and it sure as hell did burn. The slap was strong but coming from her mother it was not only a remaining touch of pain on her cheek, it was more like a punch to her gut. A heavy feeling of rejection, dicgrace and dissapointment. She was not sure which one of those was her emotion and which was her mother's or her father's. It seemed like, in the end, her parrents always came back to the same question when they faced her. Their first daughter. Time to time, they asked her why she did what she did, and why she did it how she did. The 'what' wasn't important. It could be a harsh word addressed to the wrong person, a fight in school, a night out with her friends which somehow had become wild - and it somehow always did. They questioned her every move and she was sick of it because in her head, the question was different. It sounded more like 'why are you such an abomination?' to her despite how they put it. And now, they said it with a piece of act instead of words and she knew it wasn't done in the heat of the moment - it had been building for months if not years. The sensation was not a little bit pleasant.
She felt magic race through her veins like wildfire. It was the uncontrolled kind steered by her emotions, by her momentary rage to her hands, where she felt it build and she suddenly felt herself being powerfull enough to create almost anything. A fireball, a piece of lightning - she didn't know exactly but knew she would destroy with it. That was the moment when she unfroze, took a step back from her mother whose lips were slightly apart in suprise or in fear, Katherine wasn't sure. She forced down the magic in her throat, forced herself to stop before she did something bad, something dark since she knew if there had been any destruction, she eventually would have ended up destroying a part of herself she was not ready to give up ever. Not because of them. Not after this. So she turned her back on her mother and father who were standing just behind her mother. They didn't go after her to the first floor when she calmly went up the stairs without a word. Perhaps they were too shocked as Katherine knew they saw the magic glint in her eyes. She never felt it so strongly. Never felt herself being so strong while experiencing it and this new edge in her magic was terrifying because it felt so good she was sure it was black.
To the time she found herself in her room in camera, the burning faded from her cheek with the euphoric sensation from her whole body, too. She was almost empty and almost full. Almost broken and almost whole with a strange feeling she wasn't able to recognize but it stung. She took a deep breath, then blew it off - then repeated the whole process again and again until she felt the air clean her from the inside. Then she moved to her small bathroom and began to strip off her clothes to clean herself completely. Because she was dirty, messy. She wanted to close her eyes, rest under the warm where it huddled over her head and simply be quiet, be in peace, be alone. So that's what se did. When the bathtub was full with water she sat into it and took a deep breath before lying down. It was liberating. To lie there not knowing if she was crying or it was only the water that touched her face with its wet fingers. Not knowing if her throat hurt because of the lump in it or simply because it was hoarse on account of the lack of oxygen. But she knew she couldn't stay under the water forever. She couldn't do that or she would drown.
So, when Katherine emerged from the bathtub, she knew she will run. Run to the end of the world if she'll have to but she will run from this. This family which despised her and this life which didn't felt quite like hers. Not really. And most importantly, she will run because she didn't want to lie under the water ever again.
Hum, sure, why not?
Katherine took a seat beside the stranger with her glass of wine in her hand. She wasn't the type who drinks alone, she appreciated good company and this man seemed to be fine, although she hadn't met him in Hamptons before. "I'm Katherine", she introduced herself with a light smile.
No, I just want to have a good time.
Oh? Mind if I join?
It’s time to go for a drink.
Special occasion or do you only want to get drunk?
Right, of course you knew.
Well... Have a good celebration, then.
drink away the bad
She was grinning as Katherine stood up, she wasn’t really going to kiss that low life, was she? They must have looked so strange to anyone else in the bar. Alicia grinning like a Cheshire cat and Katherine making out with the bartender.
Alicia couldn’t help but look shocked when Katherine began to kiss him. He wasn’t exactly an attractive person either. Oh wow, she’s really going at it! She couldn’t continue to watch so instead took a sip of her drink whilst looking at the floor. Alicia didn’t even look up again until she was being spoken to.
"Hmm?" She coughed to clear her throat. "Well… well done." A smile came across her face. "I have to say… yeah there is no response to match what just happened… my go?" She took another part of her drink and spoke. "I think I choose truth this time."
Oh, she was really drunk now, wasn't she? Yes, that hadn't been even a real question because if she wasn't drunk, she wouldn't have been kissing that bartender only a second ago. It was not the right thing to do - in fact, it was very silly. She knew that after this little show she won't be able to set foot in this bar with a straight face again. She will be absolutely embarassed, especially with this man behind the counter. He wasn't bad looking but he wasn't exactly her type of man, either. But whisky seemed to change anything to the better and she was also more libertine if she drank enough of it.
She couldn't suppress a troathy laugh escaping her lips at Alicia's present embarassment. Or so she thought she saw that emotion on her face... But wait a minute. Hadn't she just sad to her that she haven't had any emotions? Well, Katherine couldn't imagine how was that even possible but if she really didn't feel anything, then everything is only a mask for her? It can be. Well, why not? But she couldn't think of these things right now. She was too far away from decent thoughts already so she just nodded to the woman and started to think about questions she wanted to ask her about. Finally, she decided to go with an easy question. "Why did you want to be a doctor? You don't really seem like it's your dream job, you know.", she said with a smirk and took a sip from her new shot of whisky. Oh, how she won't look at that bartender again tonight.
I never forgot your day either.
That’s probably worse. It’s nothing you’ll ever get over.
Oh, I already know that.
