weidol entertainment, often stylized as weidol, weidol ent, or W.D.L, is a fictional south korean entertainment company first established in 2018 by kim chul-sung and his eldest daughter, kim chae-yeon. though it started out as an online initiative to showcase talented performers from around the world, it’s evolved into a fresh-faced record label and talent agency, taking in idols, producers, actors, and models from all over the world.

originally founded as weidol web creative, kim chul-sung created weidol entertainment in 2018 as a way to help fans living abroad in becoming more involved in the korean music industry. after all, two of his children were training with other industries, but the idea of being so constrained to a professional contract bothered him greatly. with the help of his tech-savvy youngest daughter, kim chae-yeon, he set up a place for talented fans to submit choreography, original songs, and covers, allowing them to be posted on the company youtube channel. after the voice of a graduating highschool student named cho hyesoo went viral on their platform, however, chul-sung found the perfect opportunity to solidify not only her success, but the success of his company . . .
weidol is far more open in terms of what they allow their idols to do, with minimal dating bans and flexible yet diligent training regimes, making their more seasoned competitors question them - however, this preservation of morale has been proven to keep their idols happy and motivated.
weidol’s premise has spread from korea to japan, and they also have plans to open a subsidiary in china in the future.
✧･ﾟ:* WHAT IS BLU*MOON STUDIOS ?
blu*moon studios is a film studio and modelling agency recently added on as a subsidiary to weidol entertainment, founded by kim chae-yeon and her husband, choi jong-in, in late 2020. they have not released any films or dramas as of yet, but they do currently print and produce blu*moon magazine. they’ve partnered with many big fashion and makeup brands such as etude house, laneige, kye, and beyond closet to show readers the hottest trends, as well as to keep them updated on all korean pop culture happenings.
✧･ﾟ:* WHO IS CHO HYESOO ?
cho hyesoo, often known mononymously as hyesoo, was the first person to go viral on the youtube channel for weidol entertainment when it was still an online talent project, and the first artist to ever be signed to their label. debuting in october of 2018 with her original song, BLUE MOON (which was actually the inspiration for their film studio’s name), she received national acclaim for her soft, smooth vocals and her music’s chill, ethereal atmosphere.

✧･ﾟ:* WHAT IS WEIDOL GIRLS PROJECT ?
weidol girls project is a survival show similar to produce 101, produce 48, sixteen, and finding momoland, in which kim chul-sung himself, as well as kim chae-yeon, hyesoo, and other figureheads in the k-entertainment community were featured as judges. having only signed solo artists prior to the creation of the show, they set off in search of their first official girl group.
the show aired from january to april of 2019, having forty trainees from different companies compete for a spot in the top ten. not only were they judged on their vocals and rap skills, but also their charisma and stage presence, which their audience took into account whilst voting for who would stay.
the winner of the competition was xu hua, a chinese-english trainee from jellyfish entertainment, who ended up becoming the leader of the newly-debuted group. this group would go on to officially debut as WE*DOLL in early may of 2019.

WE*DOLL is weidol entertainment’s first girl group, created from the top ten trainees from weidol girls project. there are ten members, and their concept relies heavily on myth and legend, with each girl being assigned a fantastical creature to represent. they currently have two sub-units named SAI*RENSONG and EU*TOPIA, with five members each.
they debuted on may 2, 2019 with their first single, panorama, and were originally meant to last about a year, but due to overwhelming praise and hype, there was little debate over making them permanent. they’re best-known for their versatility, stage presence, and choreography, not being afraid to tackle both traditionally feminine and masculine concepts.

HARPY CLUB is a group curated by kim chul-sung himself, created from the first prime batch of male trainees. after the success of WE*DOLL, the need for a weidol boy group had grown too strong! HARPY CLUB has five members, and are known for their mischievous, “ harpy-like ” concept, showcasing their tempting visuals and their incredible, well-trained vocals. none of them lack vocal talent.
they debuted on september 11, 2019 with their first single, no air, and received near-instant praise from netizens for their immaculate voices and visuals, even though their seductive, haunting concept raised many eyebrows from conservative fans at home. they’ve been met with their fair share of controversy, but that doesn’t stop the fancams from flowing in by the boatload.

DDK (also known as だいじょぶ です か D.D.K.) is the first prospect girl group of weidol japan. DDK has four members, and they’re best known for their split concept - while half of their songs feature cute edm influences, the others are pure heavy metal. they also have a storyline, featuring them as magical heroines and double agents, saving the city one day and plotting its demise the next.
they debuted on july 9, 2020 with two different singles to show off their split concept: daijoubanai and kagerou. the whiplash of genres gained mixed reactions from netizens at first, but during their first stage, listeners from around the world were mesmerized by how easily they integrated themselves into each concept. it’s as if they were made for this sort of thing.

SPIDER is the most recent group to debut under weidol entertainment, and in an ambitious move by kim chul-sung, it’s currently a two-man show. SPIDER performs as a rap and hip-hop duo, with both of them bearing a badass, chaotic concept, like most rappers in the industry at the moment. however, their most notable feature is their upbeat and powerful stage presence!
they debuted on february 1, 2021, releasing their first EP named WELCOME TO THE WEB with their catchy title track, mad city. at first, the outspoken pair were met with slightly negative reception, due to their unprofessional nature. however, they’ve developed a cult following over the last few months, especially on social media, where netizens are obsessed with keeping up with their chaos.
