itâs so weird that i never heard anybody talk about this, but⊠one of the things you will notice when you start recovering is that your old coping mechanisms will stop working. they might even start hurting. which is absolutely scary, and you might even find yourself being nostalgic for worse times when you could still give into those impulses and feel the pain ease off for a while. but they stop working because you are healing. take a deep breath. see how far youâve come. youâll go much further yet. be proud of yourself.

diet culture? banned this year. itâs 2018, grow up and hate someone besides yourself. i promise there are plenty of wonderful options.
Why You Must Eat
Itâs fuel
It doesnât make you fat
You donât want an eating disorder
It will make you happy :))
It will keep your metabolism working
It is NOT the enemy, your ED is
It will keep your energy up
It will help you think better
It will regulate your emotions
Youâll be more confident :))
Because you donât need to deserve food
To fight your ED
Because youâre beautiful
To not fear food
To be able to eat out with you friends and not panic
Because youâre strong
It keeps you alive
Because your weight is not important
Youâll smile more :))
Because your health MATTER!!
Because life is awesome
Because food tastes good
Because gum is not enough
When you just want to go to bed but you have to finish your snack

When Iâm following my meal plan, taking my meds, not overly stressed at work/school, have tried all my various coping skills, done all my therapy homework, and I still feel sad for no reason

mod note: sometimes it takes a while to figure out where sadness is coming from. A lot of times, in recovery, once you are well enough that you âshouldâ feel better, you actually start feeling other things â sadness, anger, etc â because youâre only just now starting to have the capability to process prior traumas. Itâs like your brain is going back and checking on its voicemail messages from when you were too overwhelmed before. You are still making progress! You survived your past, you can survive your processing <3Â
