if i had a dollar for every time one of my favourite shows was about two guys who are best friends that are in a band and are trying to get famous i would have two dollars.
which isn't much but it's kind of weird that it's happened twice.

Jay at the Backrooms premiere
i know this has probably been spoken about before, but i love how matt and jay are honestly just as stupid as each other in the show. both of them will try and say that they're not, ("you're the stereotypical dunce,") but realistically they're both dumb in different ways. the bank and the boy come to mind specifically, especially in the boy where jay tries to be so serious and paternal towards mike until the end. everything they do is turned up to 100 for absolutely no reason. even in the basic concept of the show, they're doing everything but taking the easy route. they just have to be so extra.
most people would see a show about two friends and automatically assume that they would have totally different personalities, and while they kind of do they also love to encourage each other's stupidity. jay also just doesn't question matt at all because usually he thinks his plans are really good. he just goes along with whatever, and i love that for him. basically i just wanted to say i love how they didn't try to make one of them better than another.
"if you've got a best friend, you won't even notice getting older" is a crazily beautiful quote coming from a movie about two guys who just fuck around and do dumb shit together. i never would have thought such a genuine thing could be said by either one of them especially within the context of what's happening to them. they're in such a stupid situation that they're so dumbfounded by yet somehow matt still manages to say some life changing shit that literally instantly changes jay's plan in his head. he was so ready to try and leave matt and all matt had to do was make him remember what they are to each other indirectly through a dumb litte quote (that he hated anyway.) and it's such a true quote too. genuinely how do they do it.
sounds like someone i know.

I love this video. Matt's just repeatedly embarrassed. Embarrassed that he's getting called out for eating straight peanut butter. Embarrassed that Jay's complimenting his muscles. Embarrassed that everybody’s drawing him fat.
"Everybody's drawing me fat" pops into my head unannounced constantly i'm obsessed.
