the parallels really get me, seeing these gifs literally just shots me with so much dose of excitement and passion for these two movies even when i'm not doing really well irl BUT HOLY CRAP THEY GOT ME SO BADDDDD

on the other side i love how these two are treated equally as movies made with care, because to realize that one is a small budget indie project that also happens to be produced and starred by a youtuber (which.. isn't exactly a sentence that rings a positive note in general audience imo) and one is a blockbuster hollywood project that happens to be filled with lots and lots of prestigious names (actors, directors, cinematographer, composer, literally when i saw these names i was immediately hooked) is pretty insane to me. i can sense the vibe of "not bringing one down for the sake of lifting the other" when i see people discussing project hail mary and iron lung at the same time, they are treated as two sides of the same coin DESPITE these huge gap on production differences, that to me genuinely warms my heart. like after all that's what filmmaking is, big budget or small it's still movies, it's still stories and messages told and crafted with care and passion, and literally it's proof that doesn't matter where you came from genuine art will have it's way to be appreciated, and yeah i think that's beautiful

Hey so I fuck with bloodymary as much as the next person but can I like talk about something rq?

Why are so many people making Simon a brute.

Actually no, scratch that. I know why. I’m like 90% it’s racism + heteronormative dynamics

It’s not all of art/fics, but it’s definitely some of them. Simon DOES have anger issues and he does have violent tendencies, B U T he’s also so much more than that. He’s shown throughout the entire movie to be clever, determined, and hopeful. In fact I’d argue his most obvious personality trait IS his determination, we see that waaaay more than his anger during the film.

I can probably go more in depth for this is people want. Rn I’m just getting it off my chest. It feels weird to me how some ppl are characterizing Simon. Because like…yes. It is that serious
