I smell a repeat in history
Six bullets into a first grader.
You have to understand the degree of hatred and open racism that needs to lay the groundwork for that kind of evil, the dehumanization and demonization that needs to occur for someone, probably gleefully, to put 6 bullets into a little 6-year-old.
How can there be people out there filled with this much hatred towards an innocent child? What was a six year old gonna do to you? How was a six year old a threat to you? If the only reason you can give is “she could’ve turned into a terrorist”, then you have become what you fear. What an awful person you are to hate a child for existing.
A bit of a detour from my usual posting, but I’ve been wanting to share this little piece of positivity that happened in my life recently:
My parent hasn’t been big on the LGBT+ community, but he knows I’m a part of it and respects that I am. Though he hasn’t done well with pronouns and hasn’t understood how some people fall out of the gender spectrum or identify with the pronouns they/them.
He knows that I stay up-to-date with Eurovision (I do not agree and resent the ebu’s actions and z!on!st choices). This year, as many who follow as well know, a non-binary competitor won this year’s competition (congrats Nemo!!!). I let my parent know that Switzerland won this year. Here’s how it went-
Me: Switzerland won this year!
Parent: really?
Parent: I hear people saying “they”. Is it a band or one person?
Me: Just one person

I FELT SO PROUD AND HAPPY THAT HE WAS SO UNBLINKINGLY INCLUSIVE!!! Didn’t ask any other questions on pronouns or gender, simply referred to Nemo with the/them pronouns. AND HE’S DONE IT REFERRING TO OTHER PEOPLE SINCE TOO!!!
THAT is inclusivity. THAT is progress. The world is far from perfect, but we’re slowly turning it into something good; we just gotta stay loud
