This is the final, and posted, version of prose--I think that's the right word--about Ruby's death in Tarnished Silver. First Yang's PoV, then Weiss' PoV.
This was inspired by "Edmund and Edgar Stagger Home" by Alex Peery Clark.

0o0o0o0 Yang’s Grief
I'm dying. Your wounds are mine and my tears coat your cheeks. My lungs burn, the ice of your skin soaking into my bones.
All I see is red. All I feel is a cold weight. Dragging me down into the dirt.
I'll never catch my breath again. Never hear yours. Never again feel warmth, yours or mine…
Did you know? That there was a price for being heroes? That our reckless dreams would have a cost?
I can't pay this. Please. I can't.
You’re my baby sister and I can't let you go...
That was the most Dangerously Calm "what's that supposed to mean?" I've ever heard from Weiss, Cordovin's lucky there was no alcohol around or we'd've had two Weiss Arsons this volume
Weiss' evolution into being a support team member is hilarious because she has seemingly only done so, outside of general promises to be a good teammate, because she realized that she is on a team of exclusively self sacrificing and endangering teammates and if she doesn't help them, they will get hurt
Weiss, sure she threw herself on a geyser for Yang, but that was a tournament, she had no reason to believe she would die (yet). But Yang charged a random guy and lost her arm for Blake, got thrown into an abyss for Ruby, and even though she was definitely already pissed with her mom, it probably didn't help that Raven did kidnap and hold Weiss hostage. Blake isolated herself and took total responsibility for stopping Torchwick, when she really didn't have to. And Ruby? Weiss has it on good authority that if she doesn't stop Ruby from doing things that can get her killed, Yang or Blake will, which can lead to Yang and Blake doing things that will get them killed.
Weiss going from assuming she was on par with Pyrrha in terms of combat to almost exclusively working to support her teammates, not just because her powers lend themselves well to it, but because she has to or they will die is the greatest bit in RWBY. We have never seen Weiss use time dilation again purely because I believe she has been using it but only to yell curse words at her stupid teammates
Everyone is entitled to their own sorrow, for the heart has no metrics or form of measure. And all of it... Irreplaceable. ~RWBY White Trailer

people: do you like (character)?
me, a little unhinged about said character: He’s fine. He’s alright.
(via @thisbibliomaniac, correct as always)

"you can't pick and choose what you like from canon" common misconception! yes you can
but please do not get this very true concept confused with “you cannot pick and choose what is canon”
they are two very different things.
thank you for this addition seriously

some people will be like “I wonder why fanfic writers don’t share their works anymore😔” and then this is them when a writer is kind enough to share something they write — as a hobby, for their own enjoyment — with them for free.
some people really don’t realize how privileged they are that they get fanfics for free. imagine having access to something for free because someone is kind enough to share it with you… and then being rude, entitled and an ungrateful pos to that person who was kind enough to share their creation with you for free
“almost 1 year is a lil too much for me” fuck off. fanfic writers don’t owe you anything. one of my favorite fics was updated after 13 years, and what I did is that I thanked the author for choosing to continue the work, I didn’t act like a spoiled toddler by asking why they didn’t update sooner. and even if a writer chooses to abandon their fic permanently with no explanation, that is their choice, their hobby, their decision. they don’t owe your entitled ass anything.
you people let tiktok rot your brains to the point you see everything as content farm and engagement. not a piece of art created by the artist’s love and passion. it’s dystopian.
Pro tip, comment what you like in detail on every chapter so whenever it does update you can just reread your comments to refresh your memory.
Unwillingly Alone
temporary title for a new Weiss-focused RWBY fic. Tagged "Weiss Alone AU". (and there's nothing as permanent as a temporary solution, so it may not change)
In short, I was inspired by two pages from This Comic that was made for a WhiteRose fic titled White Instinct, specifically 4 and 5. Weiss, apparently very alone with a baby, her hair dyed black, a crowd threatening her before she summons her Knight.
While I'm still working out the "why" and "how", this snippet will probably occur after the opening chapter that will--hopefully--cover how and why Weiss decides to travel to Menagerie of all places, pregnant and looking to start fresh and unknown by those around her.

Stepping off the transport into Kuo Kuana—hair dyed a light brown now—Weiss sighed and glanced around as people moved passed her. If there was one good thing about her situation, it was her choice of clothing. Loose, cream-colored pants and a blouse similar to what Blake had worn a few years ago, what Ruby had dubbed the Faunus woman’s ‘infiltrator’ outfit. It kept her cool in the bright sun, and was nothing like anything she would’ve worn as a Schnee, never mind the styles common to Atlas.
She would’ve parted with Myrtenaster, to complete the break from her old life, but her faithful weapon—while obvious—was the one thing she couldn’t part with. She’d needed it just to reach the coast unharmed, and while she hoped she wouldn’t need it here… Well, she was a huntress, at least for a few more months.
And she didn’t leave many options for work aside from Hunting, it wasn't like she'd put much thought into other jobs while attending Beacon. And she would need a job, something other than the huntressing she’d spent years of her life training for. Watching Ruby and Yang, and listening to their stories about Summer and Raven, had—if nothing else—turned her away from the idea of risking leaving her- her baby alone.
Pulling her hand away from her stomach, Weiss sighed and set out deeper into the spread out and relaxed coastal city.

A pair of jade eyes tracked the false-brunette as she moved off, curiosity warring with wariness.
“What are you doing out here?”

Yes, this will be another NobleTheft fic. Honestly, I love these two, and there aren't really many fics of them aside from mine and two or three others.
"I'd destroy the world to protect you" but it's a parent/child relationship
"I hate everyone but I love you more than anything" but it's two best friends
"you're the only one who can bring me back when I lose myself" but it's siblings
I’m not a fan of ai, but I can accept that if someone chooses to use ai for their fics or their art, that is their choice. not something I agree with. but still not my business, and I will never condone harassment.
if anything, I think it’s better if these people feel comfortable enough to tag their stuff as ai, so that other people can avoid their works if they’re not comfortable with ai-generated contents.
that said, I think ai writers will stop tagging their stuff as ai entirely if people shame or harass them for it.
so now their stuff is still ai, just untagged, meaning there’s no way for others to know if it’s ai.
keep in mind that speculation, accusations and witch hunt harm genuine artists and writers as much as ai does, if not more.
so if you go to the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 just to harass people for using ai, just know that you’re not actually fighting against ai — you’re just being a bully and you’re also making people more wary of properly tagging their ai-generated works as such. so you’re just making sure they no longer tag their ai-generated stuff as ai. also you can be reported for harassment, and ao3 will not take your side. (whether or not you like it, ai-generated works are allowed on ao3, whereas harassment is not.)
the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 is there so people can either find or avoid works with ai (but in order for it to work, ai users must feel comfortable enough to be honest and tag their works properly, that won’t happen if people keep shaming and harassing them for it — the only thing harassment will do is make sure ai stuff go untagged, harassment doesn’t stop people from using ai).
the “ai-generated” tag is not there so that you can freely harass people with no consequences.

Best Friends.
I’m being honest, for me the only way I see WhiteRose is them being best friends. And that’s how they are in my Time Loop AU, Fruit Loops.
Ruby was Weiss first Friend, and grew to be her best friend. Spoilers, Weiss and Jaune–engaged–shared an apartment with Ruby–while Yang was off adventuring with Blake and team SSSN–after graduating from Beacon, while Weiss waited for her time to take over the SDC from her father.
Unfortunately, the events at White Castle just two years after graduation cut any plans for the future short. And thus Weiss found herself back at her first day at Beacon, the only one to remember what the next six years held in store for them.
