(Starling) “Finally, someone with reflexes.”
[Prompt]
"Don't make it this far in life without 'em," she said with a small smile.
“You have to go on without me.“
[Prompt]
"I'm not being paid to leave you behind," the mercenary snapped, but stopped herself short of grabbing hold of the woman. They weren't in any danger, but something was clearly wrong with the trader -- it was like she was damn near rooted in place.
"Come on, we've just got to go in, offload some of this crap you're carrying and then get a little rest before we move back on to meeting up with your friends."
“ he tried to kill me, so i killed him.”
[Prompt]
"Fair's fair," Reese responded with a shrug of her shoulders, clearly unbothered and unquestioning of the comment. Frankly, she didn't much care whether it was true or not.
"He have any friends we need to worry about, or can we roll him into the ditch over there and get moving?"
(Grant) ” Someone’s rarin’ to go. ”
[Prompt]
“Yeah, well, I’ve been cooped up in the damn cabin since before that storm came through,” she offered with a huff, slinging her bag across her shoulders as she made her way towards the settlement entrance.
“I fully understand the term ‘cabin fever’ now and I get how it drives people mad.”
(Slim) “That’s not… That’s not what I meant to say. Um… I’m just gonna…”
[Prompt]
Reese did her best to keep from outright laughing at the poor man’s slip up, but a smirk still made it’s way across her face as he stumbled over himself to try and back track from the conversation.
She considered teasing him, but with how red in the face Slim had become, Reese was worried if she commented on his remark he might pass out from embarrassment. Instead, she took pity on him, and gave his shoulder a comradely nudge.
“Don’t worry about it.”
(Matthew) “You want a coffee? 'Cause I could use a coffee.“
[Prompt]
Reese blinked a few times, pulled from her thoughts by the sudden sound of Matthew’s voice. She was awake, but her mind had wandered from the task at hand and she nodded in response to his question.
“Yeah, I think something warm will help keep me focused.”
(Starling) “Oh. Looks like someone’s back in a good mood.”
[Prompt]
“Turns out I just needed to eat some food instead of snapping at everyone within a ten mile radius,” she admitted, taking another bite of warm bread. “Sorry ‘bout earlier.”
“Are you even listening to me?”
[Prompt]
“You’ve been talking a mile a minute since we got here,” she countered, taking a quick sip of her beer before waving at the bloody cut on her forehead.
“Little bit difficult to absorb it all after the blow to the head I suffered saving your little ass earlier.”
(Matthew) “How much did you keep?”
[Prompt]
“All of it?” Reese replied, clearly confused by the question to begin with. “At least until I get back to Sanctuary and can offload his belongings to any remaining family. It’s not going to do him any good now anyway.”
“Do I lose points if I tell you I’m having a pretty nice time?”
[Prompt]
“All things considered? Nah,” she said with a shake of her head and a smile. “By this point, I’d be a little offended if you weren’t having at least a little bit of fun.”
(Matthew) “He ain’t got a trustworthy bone in his body.”
[Prompt]
“At least we’re aware he’s going to try and stab us in the back,” she replied, letting out a sigh and taking a sip of coffee. “Makes it easier down the line to take him out of the equation altogether.”
“Oh, did I get a little beer on your shirt? I guess it’ll have to come off, huh?”
[Prompt]
A small laugh escaped her at the woman’s comment and she shook her head, using a rag to dab at the small splash of beer on her shirt.
“There are easier ways to get my attention, you know.”
“ i don’t see anything scary. do you?”
[Prompt]
“Suppose it depends on your definition of scary,” she replied with a mildly amused grin, before pressing on and surveying the area a little further. Reese returned and shrugged her shoulders.
“A few dust bunnies around the corner, but I think we can take ‘em together.”
(Slim) “ hey, what about this one? you seen this one before?”
[Prompt]
Reese glanced over her shoulder, craning to see what he was holding up. Her eyes lit up at the sight of the familiar cover and she quickly made her way over to him, reaching to take the comic from his hands.
“Attack of the Fishmen is one of my favorites! I read the first one I got so much the pages fell out.”
(Grant) “You’re gonna be okay.”
[Prompt]
Reese reached up to gingerly touch the throbbing spot on her forehead. It was tender to the touch and was definitely swelling. She tried to blink the confusion from her mind and stop the ache from taking over before squinting at Grant.
“Shit, what hit me?”
(Matthew) “Eh, that sounds like a waste of coffee.”
[Prompt]
“Not a waste if you enjoy it,” she countered with a grin, sipping her coffee before digging into breakfast.
(Starling) “ oh, i am so not going in there.”
[Prompt]
Reese paused in her step, turning to face the other woman. After a moment’s thought, she shrugged her shoulders and nodded.
“Alright. You wait out here. I’ll go in alone.”
