I know itās been a while. The past few months have been really busy and honestly pretty hard, between work and personal things, and I havenāt had much time or energy for anything else.
I miss the comic a lot, and I miss you all. I still love it just as much - itās just been a very difficult time. I wrote a longer update on Patreon if youāre interested, but I wanted to put a quick note here too.
I feel like if Aladdin told Jim about his last conversation with Mulan, Jim would get so annoyed with Aladdin and say, "I said talk to her and see the stupid. I did not say act stupid. "
Then when Aladdin tries to defend himself, Jim would say, "She told you that something was wrong with her and she had been trying to talk to you all break long, you go and tell her that you don't have to read her texts and listen to her voicemail if you don't want to? Who does that?"
I just really want Jim to read Aladdin FOR FILTH about how's he acting and pushing his closest friends away over this "relationship" of his.
I really can't wait for Vanessa to find out Aladdin had lied to her throughout their entire relationship. And now it just hit me that no one knows that Vanessa thinks his name is Ali and that he's rich.
That right there might be the straw that breaks the camel 's back for everyone in Aladdin's life....except for Naveen. Naveen will always be there for Aladdin.

I really do think Aladdin needs to be read for filth like you said, and my only two nominees are Jasmine or Jim. And I mean LAY into him. Honestly, I'd be happy if they both did it together or separately. Whichever works best.
I'm literally cackling at you saying that Jim would say "see the stupid, not be stupid". BUT THAT'S LITERALLY IT. Like Aladdin, please, we love you... but stop being so freakin' dumb.
And you're so right, no one knows about him pretending to be rich or using his alter ego. Like if they knew that, they would all be like Puh-lease, get your shit together.
Not to give anything too much away but um... there's a flavor of this in the near future. We're almost there lol.

Congrats on having time to edit/write!
Have you ever considered bringing on a partner to help? With how many future issues you have written, it might help you spread the load if you were able to direct the process a bit (even if, to your comment on the potential new format, they simply went through and did the formatting and *insert visual here* comments)
I don't think you need to post faster or anything, I just wonder with the block you mentioned if some assistance couldn't help shake things up

In the past, people had mentioned/offered this kind of thing, and I remember turning it down because I was pretty unorganized and struggled to delegate.
Iām still in a similar spot now, but honestly, if I can get myself organized over the summer and someone wanted to volunteer, Iād be happy to have the help. Iām really trying to work on letting certain pieces go in my life overall so I can actually live freer. So if someone legitimately wanted to troubleshoot and do some of the editing with me, after I get my layout and issues organized, Iād definitely be open to it.
It's been over half a year since my last update lol. A lot of that has been, like usual, related to my work schedule. I will say I had a bit of an epiphany in June though about my work and how I need to handle it in order to make sure it doesn't get in the way of my personal life, which includes my comic editing. And that was really, really healing.
But I've also been kind of in my head during the last several months about the formatting of the comic which I've mentioned here in passing. I've shared this a lot on Patreon, but I really want to share it here in full too since I know this is the wider group. Read more cause it's a lot.
Basically, I have a ton of issues fully written and have had them for years. However, I've been getting bogged down when it comes to the editing, and even though my head is moving more and more forward with the story, I'm physically stuck with it not being shared.
That made me think it might be better to tell the story in a light novel with visuals format so that I could share my writing but still have a visual aspect of the comic, since I really do love the comic.
And I tested this out on Patreon and shared it.
I'm going to be honest though, and this is what I also shared on Patreon, this format also bogged me down! It took a lot of time to not only reframe the scripts/outlines as an actual dialogue/prose but also figure out where to include visuals. The work of inputting the visuals into the writing almost ended up taking as long as just editing an issue.
That being said, I would love to get feedback from the larger group on this format, so I'm going to share this one post from my Patreon publicly so people can see it. It will also give you all a new issue (Issue #259), which I'm so happy for you to finally have because y'all have been PATIENT.
Please feel free to leave replies or send me asks with feedback, Iād be so happy to get it.
In the meantime, on my own, I'm starting to think I just need to move back to a shorter issue format. Even though I LOVE the long issues, they really do slow down how often I can share anything, and I tend to struggle with my perfectionist tendencies when I make them longer.
What I'm thinking is that this might just mean a scene between characters will span several issues to get it to be comprehensive, instead of trying to fit full scenes into one issue.
Again, still bouncing this back and forth, and I'm really open to any feedback, but this is where I'm at.
Basically I just want to start sharing content and talking about the comic again, and I need to make sure my formatting or process or whatever you want to call it isn't completely blocking that.
That being said it's summer, I'm sitting in my craft room, and I'm answering comments on the comic and editing/writing. Life is good, and content should be coming soon.
I just finished rereading all of WTWA and I'm so impressed! You've done so much honing of your craft on top of making the issues waaaaay longer. I lapsed reading in high school and I thought for sure by now you'd have moved on to another project, but you're still trucking! I truly forgot the Kill Bill sirens that go off in my head whenever Aurora shows up, and then whatever the opposite of those sirens is when Esme is there š Everyone needs to get out of the kitchen and just let Emse and Jasmine COOK those ladies are the ones with the brain cells haha. Can't wait for the next issue!
Dude, you sent this last week, and it was really when I needed it most. Iāve been pretty down about a lot of things related to the comicāmy ability to edit, the audience, the format. The list goes on and on. So for you to say that you picked it up again and noticed the improvements along the way means so much to me. And even just saying that Iām still trucking along, even though itās been a while since the last update means a lot. Just thanks.
Also, Kill Bill sirens for Aurora is so damn accurate lol. And omg, I could not agree more. Literally, Esme and Jasmine ALWAYS know whatās up and how to deal with shit. Just let them do their thing.
Here's something random to hopefully cheer you up: would your WTWA characters like Dungeons & Dragons? I had a few random thoughts of Punze playing a bard (and choosing painting as the character's art of choice instead of the classical music), Kristoff maybe going for a fighter or a paladin and Jack... well, Jack would be a great GM with the right group! In a similar vein I'm wondering which characters might like Blades in the Dark, which is like a dark steampunk crime ttrpg with ghosts : D
This was sent forever ago, but when I first read it, it cheered me up so much. I'm a real novice when it comes to D&D, so just knowāI consider all of this canon.
Jack as GM makes SO MUCH sense. I can totally see everyone hating him for it, and him just gleefully laughing at all the chaos.
For Blades in the Dark, I donāt know much about it either, but I feel like it would be the people you donāt expectālike Rapunzel, Eric, or Charlotte. I just see the sunshine kids being secretly into it for some reason.
Hereās my headcanon with Flynn/Mulan with Aladdin added in.
I honestly think heās going to reluctantly help Mulan out only because he knows what itās like to have a dad in a not so great medical condition.
And since Mulan is going through the same thingā¦.his conscience is gonna get to him.
So, heāll help out, but it will be as little as possible because he is still trying to turn his life around.
Flynn and Mulan might form an odd sort of friendshipā¦.and whoās gonna get upset over it? Aladdin.

I love your reasoning for Flynn begrudgingly agreeing to help Mulan. I totally agreeāsince theyāre both dealing with dads in different but similar situations, his conscience will get the better of him.
And I LOVE the idea of a jealous Aladdin. Wtf. Thatās my favorite.
Just wanted to check in since it's been awhile since the last issue. I wish I had more to show right now, but the process behind the scenes has been slower than I expected. Thereās a lot Iām trying to sort out creatively, and honestly, some of itās just been tedious and taking longer than I hoped.
Itās not for lack of careāIām still very much invested in this story. Iāve been keeping my Patreon folks a bit more updated on some of this stuff, just because itās a smaller space and a little easier to talk through things there. But I didnāt want to leave anyone here completely in the dark.
