After our initial tests with making a wax stamp during the first half of the semester we knew this was something we wanted to fine tune as one of our final brand manifestations. As it turns out producing a test first was a good idea- the second time we knew to reverse the monogram so that the imprint was the correct way around!
Wax seals inherently speak of prestige and stature, and lend a solid old-world feel to the brand image.
We are now looking at appropriate collateral to represent the perfect fifths brand. It seems obvious that a restaurant brand would need menus and coasters.
With the logo decided on, we’re now creating collateral for our secondary identity. This poster could operate as a teaser to announce the opening of the new restaurant, or it could be used in-house.
As we address our secondary identity for the Restaurant/bar, we want to ensure it is a brand that can stand alone; it should work well with the Wellesley brand, but also have slightly different values. We’re looking to strengthen the theme of music, and have made changes to ensure easier legibility and better visual balance.
After conducting a test print we found that the beer label looked awkward when it was actually put onto a bottle. First the label seemed too big, then too small.
We found a visual harmony by printing at 75% of the original width, and elongating the label so that it was larger lengthwise. The second image here shows the before and after, with the painting texture changed for an image that better suited the new format, and a couple of minor layout changes.

A proof of our revised newspaper
Further development of the newspaper. Initially there was too much white space, and the grid was so complex that it almost looked like there wasn’t one. We simplified the grid structure, and added more text while also dropping the point size, giving the document a much more newspaper kind of look, steering it clear of a zine. Retaining the occasional diagonal crops and pull quotes add a degree of interest, and tie this traditional medium to the new contemporary culture we are creating.
