Happy Deltarune Today! One last bit of fan music before the Chapter 5 soundtrack changes everything...

Making fanmusic and janky little sprite edits during the Chapter 3+4 era helped me through a pretty rough time in my life, and I'm happy I could share it with the Deltarune community I found on Youtube. We don't know much about Dess Holiday yet, but I feel I can confidently say she would share my appreciation for Blue Oyster Cult's live performances of Then Came the Last Days of May that are always 75% guitar solos by volume.

This was inspired by Lightbringer Theory on by Deltarune youtuber Trentin. The theory suggested that Kris's soul issue and their part in Carol's conspiracy could drive a wedge between them and the rest of the Fun Gang, leading them to a "rival" trio of prophesied heroes consisting of Asriel and Noelle. I thought the idea was so fun that I ended up making a battle theme for the proposed lightbringer trio!

Here's a mashup of Lost Girl with Xion's theme from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days!

This song finally got me to dust off some of the fancy sample library VSTs I spent the 2010s accumulating, since I figured live-ish piano would make everything sound richer. With the last Deltarune/KH crossover song using the soundfont from the original release of KH2, I wanted to use higher fidelity instruments alongside the soundfonts Toby has used throughout the Deltarune soundtrack to blend Deltarune with the modern KH soundtrack.

It Took Forever And Everything's Gone To Hell But Ralsei Is Finally Done With Your Shit

I also started this before Chapters 3+4 came out, but I finished it after. The section with the SWORD motif wasn't in the first draft.

The custom sprite for this video was so fun to make. Look at him. He's just so goshdarn fucking angry. And he's got that 8-bit Megaman robot master stance so you know he means business!

This is where I finally learned my lesson about not covering up the sprite edits I put so much effort into with layer after layer of visual effect filters. It was a hard lesson to learn.

This song was made using Deltarune motifs and a Kingdom Hearts 2 soundfont. The battle background was from the original GBA Chain of Memories, and the Organization XIII sprite was made using Noelle's as a base. It's her Nobody, Lexenol, which, coincidentally, is also the brand of antidepressant Noelle takes. Common side effects may include philosophical monologues, an obsession with darkness, time travel, the urge to sit in a really high chair with a bunch of other people who are all somehow you, and megalomania. Ask your doctor today if Lexenol is right for you.

Toby, I have some ideas for how to improve Deltarune. One, Terry needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Terry's not onscreen, all the other lightners should be saying, "Where's Terry?" Three...

My original idea for the custom sprite was to make some sort of amalgamation of all the most widely used fanon Dess Holiday designs, but holiday plans meant I didn't have time to make something so ambitious, so I pared down the concept a bit.

This is where the filters started getting overused, but fortunately, there weren't any custom sprites to obscure.

Is this too upbeat for a Weird Route battle? Probably, but Megalovania was pretty upbeat, too.

I woke up one morning with two Deltarune leitmotifs playing together perfectly in my head and had to all but hurl myself out of bed to get it down.

A lot of the music I've been working on has been pretty Dess-centric, but what can I say? I can't get enough of characters who haunt the narrative.

If you buy that she's the unused dialogue hidden in the code, then she's quite literally haunting the game.

This track was when I started doing more custom sprite work for the videos, but because I also started overdoing it on the filters, it started getting hard to make it out. You'll see this problem reoccur (and worsen) before it gets better. It turns out sometimes when you start working in a new medium you make a lot of silly mistakes for a while until you make one bad enough that it forces you to put your head on straight again.

This track started out as part of a music project to go along with an Undertale fanfiction I was working on, but this was the only one I liked enough to post. The other rough drafts just didn't turn out, but this? This, I really liked.

Everyone on YouTube was doing dramatic Susie battle themes. I wanted to make a battle theme where she just wants to grill and chill.

I learned how to make animated gifs and import them into FL Studio's ZGameEditor plugin for this video. I've gotten a lot better at it.

An experiment with the Chrono Trigger and Xenogears soundfonts turned into this. Can the Fun Gang defeat the Roaring Knight before the Roaring Trigger activates and triggers the Roaring?

A Dess Holiday battle theme made before Chapters 3+4 came out and uploaded after I found out I could make simple videos in FL Studio. Crazy that she doesn't have a character design yet. I wonder if she will in Chapter 5?

This video features my first attempt at making a custom sprite of anything since 2016. It's a fun new hobby I've picked up and I think I'm starting to get good at it now. You'll see more custom sprites in upcoming videos.
