What kind of dumbarse falls suddenly into a pitch black depression because their blorbo is guesting on a show they don't like?
This guy, apparently. Me. I'm the dumbarse.
This is, of course, very much A Me Problem (and I'm happy for everyone who's deliriously happy), but I am going to have to be a grown-up and find some workarounds that will get me through the next few months without being in a constant state of depressed/stressed/embarrassed/appalled and/or raging. Basically I need to remove myself from the equation as much as possible.
So, with that in mind, I'm needing to do a tough bit of re-curating of my fandom spaces. If you happen to notice that I've quietly unfollowed you, please don't take it as any sort of personal slight - it's just me trying to keep my mental and emotional health in as good a condition at the moment as I can. Yes, I can filter the show from the feed (and have done for ages anyway), but a solid wall of "this post contains filtered content" after "this post contains filtered content" (which was already happening at times before the new trailer came out anyway) does my head in only slightly less.
Will I want to watch R's scenes eventually? Yes, probably. I'm sure he'll be brilliant, because he's so quick witted and he'd obviously blitz any remotely arty challenges. Though I'll be needing a trusted pre-watcher to give me an honest heads-up about the content before I go in. I can't watch someone I love -particularly a fellow anxiety sufferer- be humiliated or get into a stress rage for other people's entertainment (including my own).
I absolutely hate feeling like this. But there it is. Mountain out of a molehill, first world problems, blah blah blah. But the anxiety reactions are real - even when they're set off by a (near)universally loved bloody game show.
