Well thank you for noticing. As much as I like studying, everyone has to put their lives first when it counts. I've only had to do that once in my life and I'm not really looking to do it again so please do use a hair tie, if you need one. This is college, everyone gets embarrassed.

Isn't it? Psychology really lends itself to the nicer end of the spectrum. I have done a paper on murderers too, just so you know. What do you study?

Will pursed his lips, frustrated. He wasn’t sure why he was surprised. Wendy had always been as stubborn, if not even more so than he was. He let out a hollow laugh, shaking his head mirthfully. “Setting yourself up to ruin it, Wendy? You did ruin it, that’s kind of what breaking up means.” He knew what he said was probably crueler than he intended it but how the hell could she go on about wanting to do what’s right when she had done the exact opposite? She had given up instead of trying. “Maybe I never told you that I loved you, Wendy, but would I have dated you for a full year if I felt absolutely nothing for you? I wouldn’t have stayed with you if I didn’t care about you.” He told her, feeling a lot of things that he didn’t really know how to explain. “Yeah, instead we just fucked up the best thing I ever had.” He said bitterly, realizing what he had said a second after he had said it. It was typical that he had never been able to say these things while they were dating but now that they were broken up, everything he had never intended her to know managed to find a way out of his mouth. Why did she have to come and dredge up old memories when he was just trying to get over her? He ignored the jealousy simmering at the bottom of his stomach when she mentioned someone else, telling himself he had no right to be. He liked being around someone else too, didn’t he? Even if just like she said, it was nothing. “That’s not answering my question, Wendy. I meant…” He paused, licking his lips. “I meant, are you still in love with me?” Did he want to hear the answer to that? He wasn’t sure. He stalled for time at her question, not really sure himself. “No, not really. I - I think I might still love you, but it’s just - you just gave up, Wendy. You didn’t try. You gave up. And that’s… that’s hard to accept. The Wendy I was in love with never would have done that so I just - I don’t know. I think I do still love but I just don’t know.” That was the most honest answer he could give.

"I'm aware, thank you for reminding me," Wendy snapped back at him. He wasn't wrong but part of her didn't want him rubbing it in. There had been countless times when she had wondered if she had made the right decision and never got a clear answer from herself. It was a long shot that he'd ever fully understand her thought process, sometimes Wendy wasn't entirely sure but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try to make sense of it all. "I don't know, Will. But feeling something for someone and actually loving them are two different things. People stay together for a million different reasons." Wendy took a step forward, somewhat closer to him, and crossed her arms as she glanced up at him. She needed to be brave enough to at least look at him for a moment when they had this conversation. Whether it ended badly or not, the only part that she knew for sure was that Will was someone she wanted to have in her life. They didn't have to be together to achieve that and she was not about to let her mistake crash and burn everything. "That's why I never told you because I knew what I did so I skirted around the subject. I wanted you to at least hate me for being me and not for the dumb decisions I made." She said it with a sharp edge to her words, more bitter at herself than anything. So much for being the one who always knew the right thing to do. When she heard his answer, she breathed out, not feeling feel relief or anger or worry. It was a huge clutter of emotions and not one of them was dominant at this point, aside from some desperate need to figure it all out. "You said it yourself, didn't you? No one is perfect and I decided to make that obvious in the worst way possible." She turned her head down and pressed her lips into a thin line as she formed the right string of words, ones that would be a neutral ground if that was even possible. "I might be...I might still in love with you but I don't know either. It's not that easy, I think we both know that. Sadly for us, there's no great sign that will tell us what we're supposed to do."

I'm going to assume you didn't because the level of macho in that sentence is almost scary and unnecessary.

I would never. When the hunger strikes, you have to heed its call or suffer the consequences. At least you know that I'll be here to save you if you end up sick from it.

I'm not sure I do but I think all professors border on being an ass. They get their only enjoyment from the homework and tests. Psychology, I was doing some research for a paper on mental illness.

That's usually how it goes. I've seen it happen a few times myself but I won't judge you if you still want to go for it after waiting for so long. Well...I might judge just a little but no harm, no foul. Not really, no. Only five minutes but it's been a long day and when I study, I usually forget to eat.

I've seen worse things happen. At least you're not the guy putting straws up his nose, that's a bonus. I wouldn't worry until it reaches half an hour and then you're likely to get sick from eating it.
