Tell me about this, this, "Magna Carta 2"
AAAAAAAAAAHAHAHA OH MAN HERE WE GO I’M GONNA RAMBLE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS GAME I LOVE TO PIECES
magna carta 2 is…a jrpg? a krpg? it’s really confusing because the game was developed by a south korean team but then got published in japan w a japanese cast and everything
the story is WEIRD. it’s about this war against two sides, the northern forces (the bad guys) and the southern forces (the good guys) but there’s also some subplot about a floating ship that gives everyone wizardry called la strada.
ANYWHO THE GAME STARTS with this kid i compared to shiro, named juto
he’s a really generic hot-headed protagonist with amnesia with NO UNIQUE TWIST OR ANYTHING basically he kinda sucks but at the same time he’s probably one of the strongest party members
she’s a princess and wind mage who was kicked out of her own home when the war began, imprisoned for awhile, and has basically gotten the shit kicked out of her, but what does she do? she fucking breaks out and becomes an ARMY COMMANDER AND WILL NOT HESITATE TO CUT A BITCH THAT DISOBEYS HER EVEN ONCE and she’s the best damn healer in the party
this BEEFY-ASS MOTHERFUCKER WHO REGRETS NOT BEING THERE FOR HIS PEOPLE WHEN THEY GOT KILLED OFF so everyone hates him but he’s just a DAD FRIEND that needs LOVE
but then there’s MY favorite character and my main, C R O C E L L
THIS LITTLE TROLLING GAY PIECE OF SHIT is my son, ok? he’s the party member i would be in a situation like this, snarky as fuck and picks a fight with edgy-protagonist dude all the time
but he also lost his whole family and home to the war so he needs a hug
THERE ARE TWO OTHER CHARACTERS named celestine and rue but i’m too lazy to describe them the way i did the others so i’ll just show pics of them
celestine, an adorable elf girl who’s also a furry (she has a crush on argo)
and rue, the BEST POSSIBLE PARTY MEMBER because she’s stronger than everyone else and is also a ninja with lightning magic don’t fuck with her
THE CHARACTERS ARE PRETTY KICKASS, but the dialogue is boring and there’s WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much of it in these visual novel-like scenes with VERY LITTLE cutscenes. it’s awkward, especially when the game is trying to be all DRAMATIC with the plot twists n everything

and the voice acting isn’t that good either which SUCKS BECAUSE THEY GOT REALLY GOOD VOICE ACTORS??????? LIKE DAMN IT SUCKS THEY WEREN’T GIVEN BETTER DIRECTION
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT you know what IS great about the game????? THE BATTLE SYSTEM
SO OK let me break it down
see that little bar at the bottom of the screen? if that bar gets full, your character goes into overdrive mode (which can give enemies more damage) and then overheats, making it so that they can’t use any attacks for a period of time
BUT!!!! THERE’S A WAY TO BREAK OUT OF OVERHEAT MODE FASTER WITH THE MOST ADDICTING MECHANIC EVER
IF you use a special attack that causes the character to go into overdrive mode, you can create a CHAIN with another party member
SO what you have to do is get THAT character to go into overdrive from a special attack, and it’ll cause a chain break, breaking BOTH characters out of overheat mode and it’s REALLY fun and addicting
you also get TWO weapon types for each character, zephie and celestine are the main healers of the group but with a different weapon type they can fight instead. (zephie’s my main healer since celestine doesn’t have as many skills)
SO!!!! the game is mediocre, the story is weird but isn’t told very well, but the characters are awesome and the battle system is addicting and fun
but dammit this game has a place in my heart, it was my very first jrpg
SO PLAY THIS GAME OR WATCH A PLAYTHROUGH ONLINE BECAUSE IT’S REALLY EXPENSIVE. IT’S SO UNDERRATED
ok apparently it’s super cheap at barnes and noble if you live near a barnes and noble go look for it there
