Dakota nodded and huffed at this. They turned to him. “Have you always been part wolf?” they asked curiously.

“I was born a werewolf yes. It is in my blood and who I am. How about yourself?”

“I think that’s what I love about this place,” they admitted. “The fact that there is no shortage of surprises. It keeps this old shifter guessing.” They huffed a little bit as if in a laugh.

“I think so too. Nothing is ever the same around here.” He smiles before resting his head and just enjoying the sunlight for a bit.

Dakota nodded, as they began to lick their lips, and then their paws. They were diligently cleaning the blood off themselves, their ears twitching ever so slightly, as they took in all the sounds around them. “You’re not wrong,” they joked back. “But, I suppose, that around here, not much should be too surprising.”

Jae just let out a small snort as he tried to clean some of the blood off his paws as well. That is true. There are many things around here that are definitely more interesting to see.

Dakota huffed at this, flicking their tail. It felt nice, to have a comradery of sorts. They watched him eat for a moment, before continuing to eat as well, looking up at him as they did so. Once they’d had their fill, they stretched and yawned. “I could get used to having you around,” they teased.

Jae had his fill as well before he shook out his fur and stretched. He laid down and just enjoyed the other’s company since it was something he didn’t really get to do very often. “I could say the same thing. Although I am sure we look like quite the pair to any set of outside eyes.” He jokes.

Finn smiled in thanks at the sight of the water and with a shake of his head, he declined the male’s offering hands. “…I can do that, thank you.” Hastily drinking from the cup, he allowed the cool liquid to soothe his throat before taking another quick sip. In an instant, he almost felt more like himself, even with the charm still going, he could feel the momentary relief from something as simple as a cup of water. Sending the male another appreciative smile, he cleared his throat and replied, “Thank you, s-Jae. I’m… Finn.”

“Well it’s nice to meet you Finn. Is there anything else that I can get for you? I know this doesn’t really seem like a very happy circumstance.” He speaks calmly as he looked around at the other people before turning his attention back to Finn. “It must be nice to be able to take a break from all these people anyway. A nice breather as it was.”

There was a part of Dakota that craved a partner in their hunting, and they couldn’t help the happy little grunt that escaped them at this. They took a bite out of the prey, then nudged it back over towards him. “I would really like that,” they replied. “Hunting does tend to go better with a team.”

“Good then it is settled, we can be hunting buddies.” He smiles before walking over and taking a bite out of the prey as well. Jae broke off the leg and placed it between his front paws before laying down and eating the meat.

“Oh, yeah. You were most definitely not made to be a phoenix,” he said. He chuckled a little bit. “It really is a different scene. It’s something that  is hard to explain…like it’s a whole new world, even.”

“Yeah I think I would like running more than I would flying even if I was fond of flying.” He teases with a smile. “Too bad you can’t take pictures while up there I think that would make for some pretty cool shots.”

“I’m the same way,” he said, nodding. “I love to run. Or..” he smiled, shrugging. “I’m a Phoenix, and I love to fly. Because, like you said..it’s a great opportunity to just take it in.”

“A phoenix? That seems pretty cool. I would love to go flying at some point but I do have a slight fear of heights so maybe being a phoenix wouldn’t have been a good thing for me. I could imagine that it must feel so freeing just to be up there with a clear sky.”

A Lion’s Hunt​

Dakota appreciated his gesture, and their demeanor immediately changed. Plus, there was the fact that he was similar to them, being able to shift. It was an immediate respect. They pricked their ears forward, before stepping closer, sinking to the ground a little bit, to show some sort of submissiveness. “It’s alright,” they replied. “It seems I’m a bit rusty, anyways.” They glanced down towards the food. “We can share.”

“Well if you ever need a hunting partner I would be more than willing to do that with you.” He offers up as he also sat down. “It can get rather lonely hunting alone sometimes.” The male explains before gesturing for the other to have the first bite.

A Lion’s Hunt

Dakota was out for a hunt, and they were crouched down and ready to pounce, when there was a noise behind them. The intended target had run off, and Dakota let out a frustrated little growl, before turning to whoever had encroached on their time. It wasn’t often that they got to shift into their lioness form, and now it seemed to be ruined.

“Do you need something?” they projected. They were sure the look on their face, their ears being pinned back and tail flicking was a good indication that they were more than a little annoyed with the whole situation. But, they were trying to be good.

Jae had been out on the morning run as well when he had spotted something running off and he had chased after it, ignoring what was being said to him as he disappeared for a bit before re-emerging with the kill in his mouth. He was slightly apologetic about ruining the other’s hunt but he figured that maybe sharing some of the food would be a sort of peace offering between them. “Here, you can have it. I didn’t mean to bother your hunting.” He bowed his head slightly.

Damien nodded at this. “I can understand that,” he said. “It’s hard to let people in, after all. Nature doesn’t lie, though. Nature tells you how it is, and is very open. It doesn’t have a choice.”

“Exactly there is just something so open and honest about nature that...I don’t know how to describe it really. That is why I tend to enjoy my runs a lot more than most things. I get a chance to really just take in nature around me.”

Damien chuckled a little bit at this and smiled. “Those are my favorite, too,” he said with a smile. “Those, and then my second would be those of some of my friends. The ones where we’re just hanging out, and they’re just being natural and themselves.”

“Oh pictures of friends would be good too. Maybe for a scrapbook or something along those lines. But since I don’t usually trust people I tend to stick to the scenery ones.”

She smiled listening to what he enjoyed. Her mind had shifted to the clearest water of the ocean, with a full moon in the sky, and on a more shallow area, how you could see the bottom as you took the ship over it. She enjoyed those kinds of things. “That reminds me of the ocean.” And the ocean was her home for a long time.

“I enjoy dancing! It’s something I’ve been very classically trained in ballet, ballroom, and other traditional styles.” She smiled remembering her days at court and the balls her family used to have. She loves Ballet, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha cha, Swing, Jive, Samba, Mambo, Bolero, and the Paso Doble. There were other traditional styles she loved too. Maybe they’d get to discuss them.

“What styles of dance do you enjoy?” There were many styles she didn’t know, especially more modern dances, but there were a lot she did, and she was always willing to learn new ones. This was a lovely topic for her to explore.

“Really? You enjoy dancing too?” Jae’s eyes lit up. “I enjoy all types of dancing. I study all the different genres some I am better at than others. But I mostly love the freestyle one where I can just do my own thing. I just let my body lead and see where it takes me in all honesty. 

“I do enjoy the quicker ones though, Tango, Quickstep, Jive is pretty fun too if you have the right music. Do you have a particular preference for dancing?”
