Dr. Rosemary Carter was born and raised in Sunnydale, Virginia. After her father passed away, Rosemary took on the mantle of being the town doctor for the last fifteen years. She comes across as calm, capable, and always attentive towards her patients. Many know her to be quite dependable and amicable. Whenever you need a helping hand, you can always look to Dr. Carter to extend one. Despite this steadfast nature, Rosemary is a deeply lonely woman, stuck in a cage of fear and obligation and regret. One of the few constant companions in her life is her partner, Tania Park. Over the last several decades of her life, she has seen her social circle slowly shrink, until Tania herself was been ripped away--the victim of a serial killer known only as the Sunnydale Slasher. A few months afterwards, the teenager Tania brought under their care, Vanessa Shelly, also went missing When your whole world collapses and you cannot grieve publicly, what can you do except pick up your feet and go back to work?

However, after Téo passed unexpectedly, Eleanor has been single-mindedly obsessed on bringing her back through any means necessary.

Téodora Fernandes (or just Téo, really) is a wandering artist, inspired by the natural world around her. She immigrated from Brazil to the United States when she was a child with her father, a diplomat. As soon as she was able to leave home, Téo made every effort to flee the cage she was raised in, inflicted with a wanderlust and a desire to find her community. Still, she feels obligated to return home every year to reconnect with her father--even if it means her relationship with him grows more strained.

Dr. Cassandra Montague is a professor and researcher of anthropology at Columbia University--though her true love lies with the study of parapsychology. After having an intimate encounter with a haunted house as a child, Montague has been single-mindedly obsessed with proving what she experienced was real.
