In some of Gladys’s cases, all the names were known. Each star in the family constellation had been identified, along with its location in the galaxy: child, mother, father, village. On the surface, the reconnecting of kin in such cases should be a simple matter.
But as with many things in life, particularly life in Uganda, a matter was rarely simple. Even when Gladys knew the names and village of a child’s relatives, reunion was no certainty. Maybe the family members had moved. Maybe they lived in a remote area where no one could read English or afford the newspaper. Maybe the parents had moved on to new families. Maybe they were dead.

my dash is like 90% the foxhole court and i have no idea where it came from or why or when. i just woke up one day and BOOM. idk, i blame you. can u tell me what it's about + where can i get it?? i wanna read it
I’ve gotten so many of these I thought I’d just answer this one, okay! I’ve seen other people answer this but the most popular one is HERE. It covers the bases pretty well IMO and in the last ask I got, I linked it as well. But since I’ve got more since then, I decided I’d just answer it myself. The Foxhole Court is the first book in the absolutely incredible and self-published All For The Game series written by Nora Sakavic (@korakos on tumblr). So far it’s only available via Ebook but get this? The first book? FREE!Absolutely free! You can get it HERE and HERE. AND GET THIS! THE NEXT TWO ARE LESS THAN A DOLLAR! You can get the second one, The Raven King, HERE and the third, The King’s Men, HERE.
“Okay, Cas, that’s amazing, but what is it about?” Don’t worry, I’ve got you.
The Foxhole Court, Basic Plot:
Neil Josten is the newest addition to the Palmetto State University Exy team. He’s short, he’s fast, he’s got a ton of potential—and he’s the runaway son of the murderous crime lord known as The Butcher.Signing a contract with the PSU Foxes is the last thing a guy like Neil should do. The team is high profile and he doesn’t need sports crews broadcasting pictures of his face around the nation. His lies will hold up only so long under this kind of scrutiny and the truth will get him killed. But Neil’s not the only one with secrets on the team. One of Neil’s new teammates is a friend from his old life, and Neil can’t walk away from him a second time. Neil has survived the last eight years by running. Maybe he’s finally found someone and something worth fighting for.
…I know. It’s WILD and it’s absolutely amazing! It’s sports literature, but don’t let that talk you out of it. The sport is called Exy, like mentioned previously. Exy is sort of like murder lacrosse meets ice hockey meets a couple other things, you can read it’s rules and regulations HERE, and Nora created it. I know. I don’t even LIKE sports and this had me on the edge of my seat. I would willingly go to Exy games.Still not convinced? That’s okay, because I have a lot more to talk about.
Neil Josten, the series protagonist, has had it rough and that is the understatement of the century. But, when he gets recruited to the misfit team PSU foxes, things start turning up. He learns to trust his teammates and creates bonds and relationships he never thought possible all while running away from his past and right into the arms of the Yakuza. (WHAAAAT???((That’s all I can say, you’re gonna have to read them for more.)))
I personally love every single thing about this series and the way Nora portrayed it. It’s raw, it’s real, it’s in your face and it is beautiful. The relationships are authentic, (it has the best slow burn relationship I’ve ever read, and I’ve read a lot of slow burns. And get this: It doesn’t directly affect the plot in any way shape or form.) every character serves a purpose and brings something needed to the story. Every character is unique.
Everything was thought out to the last little detail, and you can truly tell that Nora wrote it from the heart. A little under/over 500 people have read these books, and it blows my mind because they’re so amazing and deserve so much more recognition then I can give them. The other day I was talking to my friend @boumeau and said “I came out of the series totally changed, you know? I felt everything but I felt stronger. I felt balanced and I felt like everything, eventually, was going to be okay. That I was going to survive this, no matter what. You know?” And no other book I’ve read has ever made me feel this way. I’ve read a lot of books. I honestly read these books within a little over 24 hours, I could NOT put them down. They’ve easily slipped into the number one spot in my my favorite series. Do I recommend them? Absolutely.
With that being said, I should say this before semi-blindly throwing you into it: The series deals with some pretty heavy stuff, and I’m not gonna brush that aside. This series is going to hurt you, it’s going to destroy you, but it’s going to build you back up again. There are plenty of trigger warnings packed into it’s pages, but none of it is romanticized and none of it is brushed off. There is torture, drugs, fighting, a rape, rape mention, csa mention, and plenty more. I’ll be coming out with a complete trigger list soon, just to make sure everyone is safe. If you want to read this (please give it a shot) and aren’t sure whether or not you’ll find it triggering you can send me a list of your triggers to my inbox HERE and I’ll let you know if there is and where it is that you will possibly be triggered.
And, after you finish the series, Nora has an entire list dedicated to answered questions about all sorts of things in relation to the foxes! From past, present, future, etc. etc. You can find that: HERE but only after you’ve finished it! Because it’s packed with plently of spoilers for the series.
If you have any more questions in regards to this wonderful series, there are several of us that are willing to answer questions! I’m brand new here, so I might not be of much help. However, I know that @coldsaturn and @foxholemadness are two of the people you can turn to. I’m not sure who else.
Anyways, once you’ve finished feel free to come scream at me! Enjoy!

Winnie the Pooh quotes make me cry.
“I think we dream so we don’t have to be apart for so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can be together all the time.”
“I used to believe in forever, but forever’s too good to be true”
“I don’t feel very much like Pooh today,“ said Pooh. “There there,” said Piglet. “I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do.”
“I wonder what Piglet is doing,” thought Pooh. “I wish I were there to be doing it, too.”
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you.”
“We’ll be friends forever, won’t we, Pooh?” asked Piglet. “Even longer,” Pooh answered.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
“Forever isn’t long at all, Christopher, as long as I’m with you.”
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
As the serpent ate the eight fledglings and the sparrow that hatched them, which makes nine, so shall we fight nine years at Troy, but in the tenth shall take the town.
