“I learned from the best,” she informs in a beam. All of the years, Teagan has always idolized her sister like there’s no tomorrow. If Blake didn’t exist, the younger brunette wouldn’t be able to function as a human being, let alone go through some of her darkest days without the other’s presence beside and reassuring her. As her hazel optics focus on both girls, the moment she first laid eyes on her niece, her heart jumped. “She is a miniature Blake. Whoever she ends up with, you better get the shotgun ready because she’ll keep him on his toes.” Just like Brielle is a miniature Teagan with Austin elements scattered here and there ─ especially taking rightful ownership of his eye color. “That would be nice,” she nods as her petals flattened against each other. “And if you have any issues, you can steal Blake right away.”
As Teagan hears her brother-in-law’s reaction to the unexpected pandora’s box of thoughts makes her feel guilty. “I wish I wasn’t so goddamn stubborn and realized having help doesn’t make me weak.” It’s a perception that she has fixated on from a young age. The majority of the time, Blake had to talk to the younger sister down from thoughts’ consumption. “No matter how hard I try, I still feel like a burden, Wes.” For christ’s sake, this is her brother-in-law, the only other person she trusts with hers and Brielle’s own life. He’s the only person that works for her sister. “No,” Teagan dismisses with a shake of her head as a huff of air drags out. “When she does, it’s over.” It would be that moment when she feels like the universe is against her.
Her brows knit together, somewhat unsure of what he means if she knows anything else. While the sisters have always been close and a force of nature, there hasn’t been anything she has heard lately. “Oh, I know nothing.” Throwing her hands up defensively, but if something is bothering Blake, then she’ll come to know about it soon. Her head tilts once hearing Blake wants to go back to work, wondering how she went that long, to begin with. “A fourth one? I mean, I could see y’all handling that but if she wants to go back to work… may push back your dreams on wanting another.”
He smiled at her, “She really is the best,” God, Wes was lucky to have her. And to have Teagan in his life too. The Castillo sisters were all he really ever needed. “I already promised I’d be good when she brings a boy around.” He whined, though he was glad that was more than a few years away at least. “I can handle it, trust me. We’ll have a movie night and sleepover in the living room. It’ll be a mommy free zone for all of them.”
She really had been through a lot, and he wished he could show her that she wasn’t weak just for feeling things. “You’re the last person I’d ever consider weak.” She was so strong. After going through what she had, she was definitely allowed to have bad days. “And Brielle’s so lucky to have you as her mom. She’s so lucky, Teag.”
"Yeah, I don’t know how that’s gonna work and I’m not sure she wants to do the whole pregnancy thing again,” Though he didn’t get why. She was so hot pregnant. “So y’know at the end of the day, it’s her choice. And adopting is always an option too,” That way she could go back to work and they could get another kid. “Did you want a big family?” Maybe it was insensitive to ask because her situation was a little different, with being a widow and all. But he really was curious.
