An analysis of cityelf's incredible poetry and the monstrosity of bigotry.
If you haven't read this is a poem about being nonbinary by @cityelf, do it now. It's one of my favourite poems and I consider it an extremely important piece of literature--and I felt it warranted the same discussion and examination as any Plath or Siken piece. So I discussed and examined this piece, it's relation to monstrosity, and why it's so utterly important.
Please visit the link above to read the full piece. The piece has a voiceover option for those who require it, and alt text for the images. All images are credited to the artists, who you should also check out, and AI did not touch it. If you enjoyed it, consider following my Substack; I post Make Mine Monster, blog bonus features, and poetry there, all for free, all for your enjoyment.
My social anxiety is high sharing this piece and tagging the poet, but cityelf: This piece is amazing. Here are your flowers. There is no pressure to even read my analysis of it. I just want people to know who created this incredible work before reading my less incredible look at it.
This is very well written and I feel entirely understood in your reading of it. Thank you so much - I’ve never had anything I’ve written considered worthy of analysis like this and it’s made me incredibly emotional to witness it.

I think my main problem with generative ai is the deceit of it all. Say that they made an llm that was trained off work that was purely consensual, and that it wasn’t harming the environment, there’s still this loss of human input.
The best way to describe it is if you found out your favourite restaurant doesn’t make anything themselves, that they’re reheating pre-made food.
Sure you can argue that they’re still plating it, and they came up with the idea of combining two premade foods together.
But then what’s the point? You can just order the premade food and make it at home.
Generative ai to me makes me feel like I’m being used and lied to.
If I see art of any form, there’s this tacit agreement that there’s human input at every level. I just can’t vibe with diluted half-human creations in the art space.

“Time to draw a nice easy doodle while I play dnd!” I say, before proceeding to paint a full ass portrait of Trifle using Winged Victory of Samothrace as the sole reference?????????
I put the Xenomorph and a Toy Story alien in a blender and now it’s your problem :)
My interest in the Odyssey starts and ends with Zendaya’s premiere stylings.
Hi, its me. The warmest creature in the world. I love you. Im the warmest creature in the world and I love you so much and I need to be in your lap right now. Yes, I know about the heat wave. That's okay though because I was already the warmest creature in the world so I don't mind. I love you and you need to let me sleep in your lap right now. I'm soooo warm and I love you sooo much. If you say no you'll be saying no to a thing that love you. Let me sleep in your lap. When I fall asleep I get warmer. I love you
