Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten

Here's the deal.

I love tower defense games.

I've had this game since release, actually. And still haven't beaten it (I've gotten a new laptop and such blah blah blah). The point is, I'm playing it now, and I'm still addicted.

The reason why I bring this up now (and rather late I might add), is because the second one will be coming out soon. And not only that, but Nobuo Uematsu, the fantastic composer from the Final Fantasy series will be working on it.

I'm going to make this short and simple, Defender's Quest is a wonderfully addictive Tower Defense with RPG leveling elements. They do it very well. They don't add a bunch of nonsense, and you care about the story as well as the witty, sarcastic characters. It's casual strategy gaming at it's best. You have different classes, and you can even hire more. You can replay levels to your leisure at different difficulties for more XP and cash. It's just really fun.

Castles in the Sky

I originally had no idea which game I would write about first, but being that I literally just finished playing Castles in the Sky, nothing else could be a better fit.

The game left me speechless in a way, it was over much too quick, but still left me feeling extremely fulfilled.

Castles in the Sky left me feeling something no other game has ever made me feel. 

It made me feel special.

I was incredibly immersed - which may seem odd for such a simple game - but it was so beautiful. My focus wasn't on the game, or the character, it was on myself.

For what little time I spent playing through it, Castles in the Sky completely brought me back to my childhood. It's sweet, caring, nurturing, and whimsical. It left me with this feeling of warmth and it's still resonating with me minutes later.
