if you're not up-to-date, Joe Hawley released the song Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers. it's objectively the worst song this man has ever written. yet i've seen people say shit like "the RBBB hate is SOOO forced like y'all just wanna hate on Joe at this point" and to that i say, no.
first, not only does the cover hurt my eyes and use AI, but also, the song itself is bad. why did he cough in the middle of the song? why was the drum machine snare being hit with 64th notes at the end? why was the guitar so insanely off-beat??
it's bad from not only a listening standpoint, but from a compositional standpoint. you can't even argue that the guitar was syncopated because it was NOT. Fletcher would be throwing a chair at his head with the way he was dragging!
and when you're comparing RBBB to his previous works, you can't help but be disappointed. even Gobble Chicken song was better than ts 😭

i feel like a lot of these people like Joe Hawley a scary amount.. like yeah i glaze Joe's art, but i don't glaze the man himself. i think these people also refuse to realize that yes, Joe Hawley is a bad person.
i also feel like these people sort of idolize Joe Hawley in an extremely parasocial and unhealthy way. i completely understand if his music seriously helped you during some difficult times, hell, i've been there myself, but i don't treat him like a god or a king. just a quick glance in his channel on the HITS server will show you all you need to know. yeah, some people are just discussing his work, but *ALLEGEDLY* people were trying to pin-point where he works at one point....
listen, i understand wanting to meet the people behind your favorite music, but the literal TALLIES THEMSELVES have strictly said not to interact with Joe in any form. this kinda makes me nervous that people are actively seeking out Joe's place of work... and there have also been people wanting to go to Michigan for the sole purpose of Joe Hawley... icky, huh?
idk, man. i just needed to get this off my chest. there's nothing inherently wrong with being a Joe Hawley fan and i have no issues if you are. my issues start when the fans grow weird about Joe and don't respect the Tallies' wishes. like i'm sorry if this is blunt, but they would NOT appreciate you 😭
