In the event na si Grace Poe ang manalo, her citizenship issue will hound her even after winning.Eventually, mag dedecide si Supreme Court na she really isn't Pinoy so they will kick her out of Malacañang-together with her husband na Filipino citizen na(sayang effort) faster than her father's signature punching style. WANDER BOY

For as long as I can remember,I have always wanted to travel.Which is kind of ironic because I get lost constantly and can't read a map even if Gilas Pilipinas' games depended on it. As a child, when adults would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up, I would give them an answer they wanted to hear, like a doctor or a lawyer or a priest.My aunts were really pushing me to become a priest it almost happened.But it didn't.God is good.And I digress. After school, I would wait for my older siblings for a good two to three hours so we could all go home together. This is how I discovered encyclopedias at the library.Encyclopedias are heaven-sent to me because it has lots of pictures, are arranged alphabetically and kills time more importantly. It was through the wonderful pages of these books that I got to see the different continents, countries and cities of the world in vivid colors! That's when it dawned on me that a traveler is what I wanted to be when I grow up.My sister wanted to become a Ballet Dancer or Barbie which never happened.Too short.Small boobs.Not blonde. My brother wanted to become an Astronaut which also didn't happen for very obvious reasons:Third-World Asian. Back then, I thought my dream was the most realistic and achievable. But the grown-up world is an entirely different ballgame from childhood fantasies.There's no course in college which specializes in travelling for one(I also toyed with the idea of becoming a writer). Your friends and family having no interest in the things you like is another.Their idea of travel is hauling everyone in a rickety van on a saturday morning to swim and have picnic at a nearby beach(somewhere in Batangas or Cavite) then go home before the sun sets.Which is not bad really, but I wanted more. One also changes perspective through time, and become a little nationalistic, opting to see the country first before the places he once dreamt of visiting abroad. I also realized that travelling entails money, time and more money, and in order for my dreams to see the whole country become a reality, I have to work on it and work for it and just...work period. Baguio City was my first out of metro manila adventure.I had been there a number of times before but always for free and with company.This time I was alone and paying my own way.From.My.Own.Paycheck.On My Birthday. It was very liberating and exciting and somewhat scary. My father(estranged), hails from neighboring Pangasinan and my mother used to tell me that they're always in Baguio when they were still together because it's so near and the weather is lovely and all that crazy love whatnots she continues to cling on to even if they've been separated for ages. I wanted some sort of connection to the place I would visit.Baguio was the perfect choice.It's relatively near,very cheap and there's a bus going to and from Manila anytime! After that, I went crazy and travelled whenever and wherever I can.Even in the tightest of budgets. I have swam in the waters of Mindoro during a very strong typhoon once, and celebrated a birthday inside a Superferry going to Coron, Palawan.Alone. Eventually, I became friends with people who share not only my love for travel but my zodiac sign as well.So my birthday trips aren't so lonely anymore 😅. We also became friends with people we met online and people we met during our travels.And now we are all friends, forever afflicted with wanderlust, and plan on travelling and discovering places for as long as we possibly can. Not too bad right? For someone with no sense of direction. 😉 #stories101

Bloody Luna

We finally saw the current social media darling (no offense to AlDub fans) "Heneral Luna" a few days ago. I went with 3 of my co-workers: CJ, Rein and Seven.Among the four of us, I am the only one who uses his real name. Coincidentally, we caught it on the same night the superbloodmoon-or whatever it's called- was having it's own celestial show. I say coincidentally because Luna as we all know means moon, and the way he died was really brutal and bloody so there IS a connection. I liked the movie a lot.I was afraid that I'd find it underwhelming because of all the superlatives I've been hearing prior to seeing it.But It was really well made, well -acted, well-scored etc.It truly deserves all the praises it has been getting. The treatment slightly reminded me of the movie "Elizabeth" which starred Cate Blanchett, in that a lot of liberties were taken by the scriptwriter and the director, but the movie was so riveting and entertaining that you just enjoy it for what it is historical accuracy be damned. A lot of people have been trumpeting that it's Oscar-bound which in a way it is, because it is the Philippine entry, but we have to bear in mind that we're up against dozens of other countries who have their own entries.And the foreign-language category only has five slots if I am not mistaken.Let's hope for the best and expect the worst and all that. Personally,my barometer of a good movie is how long the discussion is going to be with your friends after the movie has ended.We stayed at an American fast food chain(ironically)until almost 2 am talking about the movie, history and everything in between.That's how good the movie is. CJ didn't like the first 20 minutes or so of the movie because he's into cinematography with lots of sweeping shots and the beginning lacked that. Rein was so engrossed with the film, she forgot to drink her soda. Seven was the one who laughed the hardest.It is partly a comedy you see,just like the state of the country:laughable. The highlight for me was the homage to Juan Luna's Spoliarium because it was so unexpected.And the scene with Gen. Luna's mom.Sorry, if I am already spoiling it for you. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you head to the nearest cinema and add to the ₱150 million it has earned at the box office so far. And please stay until the end credits roll because there's a hint of a sequel.Very Marvel/DC. PS. The picture was taken at Johnny Moon in Ilocos, a restaurant dedicated to Juan Luna. ‪

I guess I’m back

At 413 years old, one of the oldest structures in Makati I would assume as the city used to be a swampland.Was actually surprised that there's a church (a historic one at that) this side of Guadalupe.It's a beautiful structure.Perfect for weddings I believe.Located in a "depressed area",with the gleaming buildings of Rockwell looming over it- another proof that God has a sense of humor.Today is Easter Sunday. After two years of earthquake retrofitting, the 400 year old Manila Cathedral has finally re-opened.Aside from those blasted TV's, everything looks perfect.I had a hard time distinguishing the tourists from the churchgoers as everyone kept taking photos before, during and after Mass.Today is Palm Sunday.

Look what I got! A keychain with my name on it from the north (Baguio),a coin purse without my name on it from the south (Davao) and a handmade bookmark with MY NAME on it made by one of my co-workers daughter.So nice.Thoughtful people are the my favorite kind of people.Thank You! :D
