@what-i-actually-learned
What I actually learned from the Tale of Sir Gareth of Orkney? The lady is angry because she’s a bitch.
Also, I clearly had trouble staying awake this day. Not only is my handwriting the product of eyes-half-closed-but-i-still-wanna-look-like-i’m-taking-notes concentration, but I even left myself a helpful note the sixth line down saying “serious hard [not] to fall asleep” with the “not” added in via a little carrot. Sleepy me, you are thorough!
First Post!
Here it is, my first post at last! I have been procrastinating on starting this blog for too long now, and today I begin! My end goal in this to assemble every single page of notes from my time in college and order them chronologically, by semester and class and hopefully beside their respective textbooks.
“Why?” a sane person might ask, “That sounds like a hell of a lot of work!” To that, I would say they were correct. After all, I have to do a lot of scrounging around in the recesses of my basement to find all of the notes I've carelessly tossed aside. After that, I’ll have to go through my notebooks and binders page by page, and match up all the notes and assignments with their classes. I’m hoping I still have all the syllabi (syllabuses?) so that this process can go smoother.
Truth is, I've always been a pack rat-it’s actually a genetic trait in my family-and I’m hoping this project will 1) help me de-clutter my basement; 2) shed some light on what exactly I learned after 5 years and 40k worth of student loan debt; and finally, I’m hoping this project will keep me busy in my post-graduate days, as I search for a “real job” and find my feet in the “real world”. I already miss college and the structure it gave me. I’m grateful for all the wonderful and interesting things I learned while in college, but still feel unprepared for post-grad life. Maybe going through my notes and reprocessing the things I actually learned, the concrete knowledge and facts, will help me feel better about the unknown outcome of my future as a college grad with an English/Spanish/Medieval Studies degree, little experience, and a load of student debt.
