Christians often act pretend-mystified that atheists might get offended by threats of hell. There are solid reasons to be concerned about Christians threatening you with hell that are not connected to whether or not it exists.
As suggested above, Christians use threats of hell to intimidate people and devolve responsibility to their god.
Threats of hell can also be used to position yourself above others, and to therefore dehumanise those who disagree with you.
Inventing a disease and telling people that your special club (which has various entry criteria controlled by you) has the only path to a cure is not only a classic con trick, it’s an asshole move. Don’t be an asshole.
