Jane Austen's House Survival Appeal (COVID-19)

The doors to Jane Austen's House have had to close. Please help us to protect the future of the most treasured Austen site in the world.

This may seem rather trivial given all that is happening in the world but I thought I would share the Jane Austen's House Museum's JustGiving page. They are facing permanent closure due to the coronavirus epidemic - they lay out the info on this page and you can also view an article about it on The Guardian website. This is one of the most treasured Austen sites in the world. It's not just a house, it's manuscripts, it's possessions, it's information on women's writing in the Georgian era, it's a place of happiness for fans of Austen all over the world, no matter who they are or where they come from.

I've never been able to visit, but I'd like to in the future. I'm sure a lot of you feel the same. It's an important place, whether you're a fan of Austen or not. Please consider donating (even a little bit helps), setting up a monthly direct debit, or even just sharing this.

They've reached 93% of their goal in 24 hours which is great! It is just a little push over the finish line now. Of course, this money will only keep the house safe during the summer. That's why lots of authors and Jane Austen lovers are trying to organise something to continue to raise money until the house can open again and begin to get back on its feet! I will keep you posted. Just as a warning, it is a little violent, some horses are killed during the battles, and there is a scene where Wentai cuts open his wrist. It is a very good movie, I just finished watching it and would recommend everyone watch it.
