This August 8, 1932 photograph is of a rally of the Women's Organization for National Prohibition Reform (W.O.N.P.R.), an organization founded in 1929 by Pauline Morton Sabin (1887-1955) to advocate for the repeal of Prohibition. By 1932, the organization counted over 600,000 members and had a leadership dominated by women who, like Sabin, were wealthy and well-connected wives of American industry leaders.
