Tell me why I'm so emotional over my 6 year old taking her first shower tonight. Her whole life she's been a bath kid. But she wants to be in there for an hour and life is just too busy now. We've been putting off trying a shower because she freaks out when water gets on her face. Well something came over me tonight and said fuck it let's find out what happens. This kid loved it. She kept saying over and over how much she likes it, she was dancing the whole time, she even volunteered to wash her hair her self for the first time. And I am flabbergasted.
Yesterday I drove 2 hours to my mom's. 2 hours to LA and then 2 hours back to her house. Then today I drove home. I don't want to even look at my car.
Note to self: a concert 2 hours away is no longer worth it.
We saw The Rasmus, Apocalyptica, and The Hu. I will say, Mongolians can throw a party.
both of them are me
Jake fell on our walk this morning and now he's not moving like at all. I don't have any rimadyl and I can't pick him up to carry him into the car to the vet. If he walked, I could lead him up the ramp thing we have.
If y'all could send good healing vibes his way.
I'm just gonna sit next to him and panic for the rest of the day.

I am so sick and tired of the constant "instant weight loss" posts on every single platform I open. The trend of being as skinny as possible is back and it's gross. You can preach all day long about how it's about health and wellness but we've seen this before. The patriarchal push for tiny female bodies, hairless, curveless, blonde and submissive. I cannot get on board. "But it's more than that!". Girl. We don't know that. We have no idea what the long term effects are of pumping our bodies with this chemical. It's so bad women are on Facebook asking for how to get it from Tijuana because their doctor told them no. "I know someone who sells it privately" and that doesn't make you pause for a second on how or why?? I don't understand why I'm the only one who seems to be sketched out by this. If you wanna lose weight, cool, you do you but like...does it really need to be as fast as possible, for hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars and without any concern of what happens in 5-10-30 years? I don't like it. I don't trust it. And I'll hang out on my island alone thinking it.
I realize I never truly understood the term "Velcro dog" until I brought Chili home.

Genuinely, one of the measures that's stopped book banning the most when districts implement it, is having the would-be banners fill out a form that demonstrates if they've read the book or not. Like where they have the summarize the plot and characters and do a mini book report and give a review. It stops them in their tracks. This is why in my high school, every time someone wanted to ban a book it ended up going nowhere. There was one where a conservative student wanted to ban the manga "Legal Drug" for having a marijuana leaf on the cover, then got the form that required them to actually read and either balked, or read it and realized it was not pro-drug at all. (The other one that reduces book bans even further is "requiring the would-be banner to be affiliated with this actual school in some way, either by being a student, faculty/staff or a parent of a child at the school" because the vast majority of bans are "activists" with no affiliation with the school who just travel around trying to do this in districts all over the U.S. IIRC a few years ago someone crunched the numbers and just 51 parents were responsible for all the book bans that year nationally. 51! In a country with 50 states, with over 300 million people total!)
Laws like this indeed do a lot to stop fascist book censorship. They can also help legally protect librarians from getting fired or harassed for keeping books on the shelves! Some states like Rhode Island have already passed these laws. If you're in a blue state, look up whether you have laws like this on the books. MAYBE your state is trying to get one passed right now, like New York's Freedom to Read bill. call your state elected officials to voice support for it.
In light of some of the many things happening across the world this year, I thought this Pride Month needed a special illustration.
Happy Pride Month, may we all stay safe, look after each other, and keep painting our rainbows, no matter what. 🌈🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
Note to self:
Stop planning things. You will be disappointed. Every. Single. Time.
Will I listen to this self note? No. No I will not. And then I will proceed to be surprised when I am disappointed.
