What is the deal with Hyper-masculinity in Gay Society?

         When I was in my adolescents, my father always told me "Don't be a punk." I remember being in a fight and getting my ass kicked and my father standing there watching me get my ass kicked. Living in Black society you are always taught to "be a MAN, be TOUGH" weather that was beating the living out of someone or carrying a weapon. In America hyper-masculinity has been apart of our culture for centuries, from movies to billboards,. I am not judging anyone but I am simply putting in perspective where the gay community is going and the effects that can come with that it has on our community.
