Is it normal to dislike the transformers movie verse? I dislike how Michael Bay makes the movies. The characters aren't right, there's plot holes, and the humans. Why can't he make a Transformers movie without humans in it? I love Transformers Prime. Its darker than the movies. They focus more on the bots even though there's children in it. There's torture and everything.
Anon, many, many people vociferously dislike the TF Movie verse. But many other people like the movies. It’s a matter of taste. When it comes to explosions and million dollar special effects, the movie verse delivers. Transformers 4 was the longest of the movies so far, but also the best in its smaller cast of humans compared to an expanded robot cast who exhibited individual personalities. So, I’d say the movies are only improving, and with Bay having said that he’s leaving the series, I think they can only get better with a fresh directorial talent to tell stories off of earth, as the end of the fourth movie implied.
I love TFP, especially season one, and most of season two. However, as it went on, it lost its edge due to management shifting its idea of what the core audience should be. It got more and more juvenile as time went on, and more muddled in its portrayal of characters that were once compelling. Yet, I still adore TFP and consider it a strong member of the TF brand and an excellent starting point for the Aligned universe.
So, while dismissal or even hatred of the Michael Bay movies is widespread, I think it’s wrong to be so negative about them constantly. The movies are the entryway into TF for many fans, and that should be celebrated. Also, I think that on the internet we get into a lot of meaningless fights. I’ve met people IRL who when we talk about transformers, they talk about how much they like the movies. I’d be an absolute ass if I said “OH GOD BUT THE MOVIES ARE SO BAD LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS SUPERIOR CARTOON.” Naw. Let people enjoy what they enjoy. If you don’t like the movies, wait until someone’s done gushing about them and say something along the lines of “Yeah, that scene was something else! It reminds me of…[insert other scene from a TF series you like].” That’ll get the conversation into an exchange of happy ideas. Or if you have to be negative, it’s always best to go about it more like “Eh, I think the movies are kind of dumb. But then again in the original cartoon, you had robots travelling to Camelot or opening a dance club! Man, I love TF, even when it’s silly.”
(Stepping ooc for a moment to reblog this.)
Transformers Prime fandom:
Give me a sign that we’re still here after all these years, going strong! Some people think this fandom has died out but I want to prove them wrong..
If you still love TFP, give a like and a reblog! Let’s show ‘em we’re still here and loving our show!
Attention all Autobots.
Due to an ongoing dispute, the Autobot High Command would like to officially remind all of our soldiers that according to the Autobot Code, paragraph 13, point 1, fraternization with the enemy is, in fact, considered treason and punishable by court marshall. Spreading Decepticon propaganda is considered treason as well.
To clarify, the term “fraternization with the enemy” refers to a close romantic interest and attraction, as well as feelings that can be described as ‘friendship’ with members of enemy groups.
The Autobot High Command would also like to remind you all, that regardless of what is happening in other universes, we are currently still at war.
Attempting to befriend or court your enemies is not going to end it, no matter what the Decepticon propaganda suggests.
It will get you killed.
In short: fraternization with the enemy will not be tolerated. Spreading Decepticon propaganda will not be tolerated. It is illegal.
Do not engage in such activities.
(Red Alert’s just quietly going to print this speech on pamphlets- and leave one on every door. And send a copy to every inbox.)
Sides: *quietly deletes*
Who wants to commit treason?~
Suck my cock, Autobot Command.
Technically not an Autobot….soooo……….
This has spiraled.
It’s spiraling.
Whoops.
As if I would befriend any oil-sucking Autobot.
It’s time for copyright to die.
Now that I have your attention: we need to burn the legal concept of “copyright” down to the ground and start over.
Not because writers, musicians, and other creatives don’t deserve remuneration for their work, but because copyright has become much more a yoke around the neck of creators than a shield in their hand.
Article 13 shows the potential harm of this, but it’s only one example in a long list. Fanfic writers, music remixers, meme-makers, filmmakers and reviewers on YouTube and off of it - they are all creators, but they fear what the law may do to them, and for good reason.
Musicians see only the barest fraction of what their work earns, while middlemen take the lion’s share and turn around to claim they need to protect creative freedoms when they do the exact opposite.
Peaceful action is necessary, and on a massive scale.
