how did you figure out you were a lesbian as opposed to bisexual? sorry if this is personal, i only ask because i am trying to figure that out for myself.
Oh!!! Well, it took awhile. I just sorta discovered that having sex with men didn’t appeal to me, nor does kissing them. I think it was also cause i tried to watch gay porn once and just got hella grossed out by dick. Ahaha. Which is funny because i can find fanfic porn super hot, but it’s not because of what they are doing, it’s the emotion between the characters. I also don’t form strong relationships with men, I never have, and the desire to do so just isn’t there. I can find guys aesthetically pleasing but I’m never like, “Damn, let’s fuck.” Unless they go by the name of Misha Collins, he’s the exception.
Also, more importantly, I kissed a boy once and it didn’t really do anything for me.
I would also like to add to this that if you do feel a more significant attraction to women but are still attracted to men, you can label yourself as bisexual if you feel like that fits, or if you feel like identifying as a lesbian is more appropriate, then go right ahead. Labels are whatever you want them to be, but don’t feel obliged to label yourself. Love who you love, you’re human, don’t stress about what to call yourself, whatever you think fits best is right. <3
I was going through my #personal tag and found this and wanted to loop back around as my journey might help folks. Back then, I thought I was a lesbian. I wasn’t, I never was. I had a lot of trauma from childhood and unresolved abandonment issues from my father that caused me want to stay distanced from men and emotional/physical relationships with men. I’m in therapy now, I’m healing, and I’ve been out as bisexual for 6 years. Two years ago I met the love of my life and we’ve been together ever since, and yes, he’s a cis man.
My point here is that sexuality is a journey, it can be fluid and it’s okay if you end up realizing who you are is different than you originally thought. The most important thing in life is to be true to yourself, and you deserve love that validates you and feels safe. Don’t let anyone tell you that your sexuality or the journey of discovery isn’t valid or legit. Humans are diverse, it’s okay to rediscover yourself at any time in life.
